  1. Chiefs released WR Josh Gordon. This comes as something of a surprise after Kansas City beat writers projected Gordon to make the team following a solid training camp. At 31, Gordon's NFL prospects are inarguably dim. The once-elite wideout could sign with a team in need of receiver depth, though he would remain miles away from fantasy relevance.
  2. We have released T Roderick Johnson. We have waived QB Dustin Crum, RB Tayon Fleet-Davis, WR Aaron Parker, and LB Mike Rose.
  3. Quarterbacks (3): Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne, Shane Buechele IN: Shane Buechele My first two iterations of the Chiefs’ 53-man roster did not include Shane Buechele — but something tells me that after he put together a 166-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Packers, the Chiefs know that if they don’t keep him, he will be claimed elsewhere. When faced with that decision in 2021 — as the Arizona Cardinals tried to poach him — the Chiefs added him to the 53 to keep him on the roster. The change-of-guard won’t happen this year because Chad Henne comes with a more-than-$3 million cap penalty — but my way-too-early prediction is that the Chiefs make the move to Buechele as the backup in 2023. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/8/26/23323344/chiefs-53-man-roster-projection-3-0
  4. ESPN's Adam Teicher believes the Chiefs will release Ronald Jones. Teams must cut down to their 53-man rosters in four days. Jones is competing with Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco for backup duties in Kansas City. All reports have Pacheco holding down that gig, leaving the No. 3 role to McKinnon and Jones. McKinnon played 122 special teams snaps for the Chiefs last year and has previously served as a kick returner. He is also a strong receiver out of the backfield. RoJo, on the other hand, is only useful as a runner between the tackles. Given his limited skill set, it's unlikely Kansas City holds onto him. He can be left off all fantasy rosters.
  5. Good will toward the player. Good sign that KC likes what they see.
  6. The Chiefs agreed to an amended contract for WR JuJu Smith-Schuster that increases his per-game roster bonus from $30K to $60K, per source. Smith-Schuster can now earn an extra $510K via per-game bonuses this year. Nice touch by the Chiefs to give him a chance for more upside.
  7. No doubt Reid will keep Henne. No doubt Henne would not be picked up if released so he would be a phone call way. If Mahomes goes down for an extended time he will be available. Keeping 3 QBs costs another roster spot. Will be interesting to see what KC decides. Beuchele has to clear waivers to be on PS. There is some risk. Its not a given.
  8. If its blocking why cant a guy like Karlaftis come in for a few plays?
  9. Good point. Would like to see Beuchele play with the ones to really compare. He is a Gannon type QB and moving is part of his game. Heck PM did some quote" moves out of the pocket that were not needed" last week. Some guys throw it well on the run not to mention are good at running with the ball. Shane Buechele: There isn’t a backup quarterback competition in Kansas City — but if there were, Buechele’s performance on Thursday certainly would have made it interesting. He led all quarterbacks with 166 passing yards, a pair of touchdown drives and a passer rating of 135.9. He’s shown the ability to scramble and has capitalized on opportunities to hit open receivers. If they think he’ll clear waivers, the Chiefs will be happy to sign him to the practice squad, Otherwise, they might just have to carry a third passer on Tuesday’s initial 53-man roster.
  10. 3 runs and 13 passes. 90%. You need a math class. Guy is playing with the second and now third string line.
  11. I just posted the info. Im not sure Fisher has any potential role in KC.
  12. ERIC FISHERT, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT ESPN's Ed Werder reports free agent Eric Fisher still hopes to play in 2022. Werder's source claims Fisher "will be selective and has turned down offers from nine teams so far." While we are skeptical about that number of teams, 31-year-old Fisher is at the stage of his career where he can afford to wait for the right situation. Perhaps that will be the Cowboys, who are left with developmental prospect Tyler Smith at left tackle in the wake of Tyron Smith's knee injury. Fisher was replacement level in limited 2021 playing time for the Colts.
  13. The simple answer is no. The long answer is no, unless the Chiefs break their own precedent. Look back at the past two initial 53-man rosters. The Chiefs carried three running backs and one fullback. The top three running backs right now are Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon, and rookie Isiah Pacheco. That is clear as day. Those three running backs are the only three who saw notable first-team action against the Washington Commanders. Also, in no way is Jones pushing veteran fullback Michael Burton off the roster. He has been utilized extensively on offense and special teams. The fullback is still important, at least to head coach Andy Reid. Admitting that Jones will likely not make the 53-man roster is slightly bittersweet. On the one hand, fans have to be excited about how Pacheco has looked. He has captured the spotlight both offensively and as a special teams player. There is a lot of hype, to an excessive degree at points, surrounding Pacheco’s contributions in the 2022 season. But, on the other hand, Jones could have been a throwback sort of back, one that Chiefs fans have not seen in many years. During the franchise’s dark days, a solid ground game was the team’s calling card. That continued for a bit once Reid took over but quickly went away. https://arrowheadaddict.com/2022/08/25/have-ronald-jones-roster-chances-improved-kc-chiefs/
  14. KC will always be by committee as long as Reid is here. Backs wont get worn out. Injuries yes. Seems that most NFL backs are injured at some point every team every season.
  15. DARREL WILLIAMSRB, ARIZONA CARDINALS PFF's Doug Kyed reports that "multiple league sources" have identified RB Darrel Williams as a potential "surprise cut or trade this summer."
  16. Thats what I thought. So it should not count in the mix. I think PM could be KC leading rusher this year? LOL
  17. My thought was deal and trade a TE to NY not bring this guy back. That was before the Bell news.
