  1. He has done a pretty good job with an average defense roster and an offense that wont run the ball.
  2. Talk about a team guy. I think Kelce is almost as valuable to this team as Mahomes. Amazing team first guy with very low compensation compared to critcal role on this team.
  3. Chiefs signed Travis Kelce to a restructured contract. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs have moved money from the back of Kelce's deal to this season. Originally set to earn a base salary of $6.5 million in 2022, Kelce remains one of the premier tight ends in the league heading into his age-33 season. The absence of Tyreek Hill will provide a boon to Kelce's already high fantasy floor. He's finished as the overall TE2 or better in PPR leagues since 2016.
  4. So we are talking about Brown here instead of screw Brown Thread? Would be nice to keep this more about camp updates.
  5. Chiefs placed RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the active/PUP list. We have no real news on what his injury is at this point, but that's a headline you hate to see for a player who really would've benefitted from a good camp this season. There've been no reported injuries for Edwards-Helaire so far this offseason. Ronald Jones is Edwards-Helaire's main backup. Andy Reid should provide an update on the situation tomorrow.
  6. Wont be released. Chiefs hold all the cards. Traded? Maybe.
  7. I see him eventually as a Raider. They have proven they will over pay. His no character approach to his life is a perfect fit.
  8. YEP: I did not like the trade day one. Never rooted against the player. He screwed with Balt so its no surprise he is screwing KC. Character counts and Brown has none. Ravens must be laughing out loud.
  9. NFL Network's Mike Garofolo reports Chiefs LT Orlando Brown will not report to training camp. Garofolo added that Brown will not report for "some time." He has previously speculated that Brown could even be unavailable for Week 1. Kansas City placed the franchise tag on their left tackle this offseason, though Brown has yet to sign the tag. That means he can't be fined for his absence from camp as he technically isn't under contract. The Chiefs acquired Brown from Baltimore last offseason in an effort to turn around their depleted offensive line. That move, combined with a few others, worked out extremely well. Pro Football Focus ranked their line No. 5 in the NFL at the end of the 2021 season. Patrick Mahomes could find himself under pressure more often if Brown misses games early in the year.
  10. Chiefs placed WR Justyn Ross (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season. Going on injured reserve before the season starts means Ross is out for the 2022 season. Ross's final season at Clemson was cut short because of a foot issue that required surgery. He then underwent a second surgery on the foot this summer before landing on the PUP list to start training camp. Ross reached 1,000 yards as a true freshman at Clemson, putting him on track to be a highly-drafted NFL prospect. Injuries have all but derailed his career, and he will now have to wait until 2023 at the earliest to take the field again.
  11. I think if he holds out it all but assures he will be dealt in the off season. Of course I predicted this a year ago. I dont see KC keeping selfish non team guys. Mahomes set the standard. Kelce is way under paid. Get onboard or get out.
  12. As mentioned in the above tweet, Reid noted the injury did not occur as Ross participated in the first two weeks of organized team activities (OTAs). “It was a little bit off of the surgery he had before — it wasn’t functioning quite the way [he wanted],” said Reid. “It was bothering him. It wasn’t working quite the way he wanted it, so they went in and re-did it — and we’re hoping this works out well.” For all the buzz connected to Ross — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had said Ross could become the “greatest free agent ever” after registering more than 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in 38 college games — it did not translate during my looks in OTAs. During the draft process, only four teams cleared Ross medically — and the Chiefs were one of them. Now Ross and Kansas City have hit the reset button, and Reid added there is no timetable on the wide receiver. “It is going to take time,” said Reid. “It’s going to take time.”
  13. Lucas Niang Likely headed to active/PUP list Rashad Fenton Out to start training camp Justyn Ross Likely headed to active/PUP list Justyn Ross Back in walking boot https://www.rotowire.com/football/news.php?team=KC
  14. Replying to @Jacobs71 and @AlbertBreer Jeff Chadiha is reporting that the Chiefs are frustrated with OBJr and feel he isn't the player they traded for - ie a player willing to work with them on a deal. I'm with Veach. For him to hire an agent late, demand 25 mil/yr, and threaten to hold out - shows immaturity. THUNEY
  15. Agree. Its much easier to find a decent tackle than a superstar like Hill. Brown is not a superstar. Not close.
  16. I see KC as a wild card this season and hope the defense is playing really well by playoff time.
  17. YES Building is the key word. This will not likely be the year the defense is actually better. Sure hope it is but I think its not likely.
  18. Veach, Mahomes and Reid are like robots. They always say the perfect thing. It is the KC Way. I like it and yet I know it is not a 100% true take on whats really going on. See Tyrek Hill.
  19. Ward also a loss. Corners are still a question? Im not sure about Reid being better than or as good as HB. Yes the future looks better and yes the defense should get better as the season plays out. No pass rush. I still see this defense getting torched often. AFC West teams are built to out score KC. Maybe, doubtfull, Reid will play ball control and run it 40% or more.
  20. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/7/16/23220608/arrowheadlines-an-interior-lineman-is-the-chiefs-best-kept-secret Will include going forward.
  21. I like all the moves Veach and Co made this off season. This is still an average or below average group. Too many hopes placed upon unproven players. Yes IF the rookies play like Stars that could be different. How many rookies ever do that year one? A complete lack of pass rush will still kill this defense. Hope offense can do some clock mngt and keep the D off the field.
  22. Honorable mentions Orlando Brown Jr., Kansas City Chiefs: Brown made his third career Pro Bowl in his fourth NFL season, his first as a full-time left tackle after a trade from Baltimore to Kansas City. He ranked first in run block win rate (80.6%) among tackles with at least 600 snaps played. Evaluators are still torn on him, though. “Against average competition, he’ll dominate,” an NFL personnel director said. “Against good competition, he doesn’t look good. He’s big, not super athletic. Finds a way most weeks.” A quick passing game helps him, and asking him to play in space for extended periods can be an issue. His pass block win rate last season (87.1%) was outside the top 40 at the position. A high-ranking NFL exec said, “To me, he’s a right tackle. He’s a mauler, a little lazy in his play.”
  23. Some only like PFF if it supports their view. Fact is Brown is above average and not elite. Geez KC did everything possible to help him look good. Run blocking is important except KC does not and will not focus on a run game as long as Reid is HC.
  24. If the Chiefs are put in the position of needing a new left tackle, they might not have to look for to be a replacement. Geron Christian signed with the Chiefs this past March after three years in Washington and a single season in Houston. In 2021, after Texans starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil’s season ended due to a thumb injury, Christian was the replacement for the Texans. In 2021, Christian earned an average 59.5 Pro Football Focus overall grade ($) but an excellent 78.8 pass-blocking grade. After taking over the starting job in the middle of Week 5, Geron Christian earned a magnificent PFF blocking grade ($) of 79.8, which was good enough for 18th among all tackles over that stretch, including slightly beating out Orlando Brown Jr.’s 78.9 grade in pass blocking snaps. His run blocking was a problem last year, earning a concerning grade of 39.6 in that part of the game, including a 40.4 grade when he was the starter. One positive of Christian replacing Brown is that he has significant left tackle experience, with over 1,000 career snaps on the blindside. Another silver lining of Christian taking over is that the Chiefs likely won’t see much of a dip in quality of play on passing downs, if at all, if Brown doesn’t play. Another thing that shouldn’t be forgotten is if Christian does play the entire season as the starting left tackle, the Chiefs should be able to retain him at a much lower rate next offseason if they so desire.
  25. So Brown waits till the 11 oclock hour to hire an agent. KC would have liked to clear some cap space and do a deal earlier. Maybe then they could have added some more pass rush. But no Brown had to put everyone on hold and then ask for the sun & the moon. I now put him in the selfish ass category.
