  1. Reporters had already observed that two of the team’s starters who went into last Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers on the COVID list — linebacker Willie Gay Jr. and wide receiver Josh Gordon — were on the field for Wednesday’s practice; Reid confirmed that they had cleared the protocols. He also confirmed that cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was back to practice.
  2. Chiefs activated WR Josh Gordon from the reserve/COVID list. With Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce still on the list, Gordon could be in for a much bigger role against the Steelers if Hill and/or Kelce don't gain clearance in time for Sunday. Gordon has four catches for 27 yards and one touchdown since joining the Chiefs but has seen his snaps rise in recent weeks.
  3. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Chiefs K Harrison Butker (COVID) is not vaccinated and will not play Week 16 against the Steelers. Butker will have to isolate for 10 days dating back to Monday after testing positive. He could be cleared in time for the Week 17 date with the Bengals. In Butker's absence, Elliott Fry is expected to serve as the Chiefs' kicker this week.
  4. Source: Rapoport: No new positives for the #Chiefs today. The team has been hit hard by COVID-19 in recent days, but no new cases today.
  5. With more holidays this is likely to get completely out of hand all over the NFL. Seems like teams that traveled recently are most infected.
  6. At this point, if you include both active roster and practice squad players, the Chiefs have a total of 10 guys who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been placed on the reserve list in response. If that sounds like a lot, it is. It’s approximately 20 percent of the team. The downside is that it’s going to get worse. The Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers are likely glued to TV and Twitter trying to figure out what to expect. Reporters are saying that more names are likely coming in the hours to come as the NFL will release an official list by day’s end. As for Pittsburgh, they have a single player, defensive tackle Montravius Adams, on their COVID list. That competitive imbalance will likely create some momentum to move the game forward a bit to see if some players who are now out could bounce back in time.
  7. 21 NFL players went on COVID lists today, all as a result of positive tests. That includes seven #Chiefs players: Tyreek Hill, Nick Bolton, Rashad Fenton, Kyle Long, Lucas Niang, Armani Watts and Blake Bell.
  8. FOR THOSE THAT WANTED THIS THREAD ABOUT COVID. OK HERE YOU GO. TYREEK HILLWR, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Chiefs placed Tyreek Hill on the reserve/COVID list. Cornerback Rashad Fenton, TE Blake Bell, and Hill will join Travis Kelce and K Harrison Butker on the COVID list with others reportedly "likely coming." Amid a cluster ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Steelers, it's entirely possible this matchup is the pick to move to Tuesd

  10. From the Steelers Blog https://stillcurtain.com/2021/12/20/steelers-game-sunday-steelers-vs-chiefs-odds-prediction-week-16-nfl-game/ Steelers vs Chiefs Prediction Week 16 While I would love to think that the Steelers have a solid chance at coming into Kansas City in December and stealing a crucial game on the road, Pittsburgh’s offense lacks firepower and they were abysmal against the Titans in Week 15. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have won seven straight games and Patrick Mahomes appears to be finally playing like the former MVP quarterback we have come to know. It’s going to take a remarkable defensive performance from Pittsburgh to keep Mahomes in check. Sadly, we don’t think the offense is going to be able to toe-to-toe with a much more talented unit in this one, and we’re predicting a 29-20 Steelers loss in Week 16.
  11. Big game and KC should put this away early. I dont see much to fear against the Steelers other than Watt. Looks like Watt is a little beat up. I have noticed that the opponents defenses look really tired by the 4th quarter. Bosa was exhausted. Teams have to really battle the KC Oline and chase the receivers all pover the field almost every play. I think Mahomes has a big game.
  12. NO? NO WHAT? Todays standings are not the final standings. 3 games left. Titans could go 3-0 and NE lose a game just as easy as anyone else. KC has the more difficult 3 games with a one game lead but loses the tie breakers. Yes its completely up in the air. I still think NE does not get the #1 and if they do they are one & done anyway. Im not betting on it but thats my take. KC could still host three playoff games if not the first seed. I do think KC will have the #1 seed but its not critical to me. We simply disagree.
  13. Thats assuming they get the #1. Titans are just as likely if not KC. I think NE will not win a play off game. My point is its not critical to get the #1 seed. An advantage sure. But I dont think its do or die.
  14. But who knows if that will happen. NE is way over rated and has a rookie QB. I bet they are one & done. Mahomes plays well in cold weather. Remember that snow game?
  15. I still dont care about the #1 seed. The talking heads make it sound so critical. Improves ratings? Just win the west and then see what happens.
  16. It seems that the # of infected increases with more testing? Pitts is likely to have some too. They should let teams expand the roster asap.
  17. I wonder how many more will be found? Seems like 5 days prior is a key. Anything closer may keep guys out.
  18. The Chiefs signed placekicker Elliot Fry to their practice squad last week — and on Monday, he was activated to the roster. Meanwhile, tight end Jody Fortson — who was moved from injured reserve to the Reserve/COVID list on December 10 — was moved back to the Reserve/Injured list on Monday. Kelce, Ward, Butker and Dieter joined Chris Jones, Willie Gay Jr. and Josh Gordon to make seven Chiefs players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, though the Chiefs are optimistic that Jones, Gay and Gordon will return for Sunday’s game. The Chiefs will need to see how midweek testing goes for Kelce and Ward. Butker is unlikely to play, which is why the Chiefs moved Fry to the 53-man roster.
  19. Since Kelce is vaccinated, there is a decent chance he could still suit up to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The NFL’s new protocol — agreed to over the weekend — helps Kelce’s case.
  20. HARRISON BUTKERK, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Chiefs placed K Harrison Butker on the reserve/COVID-19 list. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Butker tested positive for COVID. If he's vaccinated, the new rules give him a better chance at returning for Week 16. The Chiefs currently have Elliott Fry on their practice squad. If Butker can't clear COVID protocols before Sunday, Fry should draw the start. Fry connected on his first and only career field goal attempt with the Falcons last year.
  21. Chiefs placed CB Charvarius Ward on the reserve/COVID-19 list. ESPN's Adam Schefter added that Ward tested positive for COVID. The NFL's new COVID rules make it easier to return within the week if a player is vaccinated but it's still possible that Ward missed Week 16. The Chiefs host Pittsburgh this week. Ward has eight pass defenses and an interception across ten games this year.
