Doubt it, but I think we might see much more 43 under fronts where the Sam is normally up on the line of scrimmage. Spags has a history with that when he has a Sam that can rush the passer.

If you're gonna go that route I believe Chenal gives you more as a pass rusher. More likely they both play LB I guess.

Sorry but CJ won't be cheap. He won't get paid Aaron Donald money but it may be close. He's not Aaron Donald but as far as consistent pressure he's as close to him as the NFL currently has. We're not carrying a ton of big contracts anymore so we can probably afford it. Whether we want to or not is the question. Donald just got an extension recently....

No I agree this team will take some time to get it together. We're relying on too many new players. I think next year we finish the overhaul on the DLine and receivers. I'm also preparing myself for a possible CJ trade as his dead cap hit drops a lot. Not sure what we'll get out of this year. We'll always have a shot with Pat but I don't think we'll look great the first half of the year on D and with a tough schedule... 2nd half I think you may see a different team.

So finally got a chance to actually look at the UDFAs we signed and besides Ross another name jumped out at me and that's Mike Rose, the LB out of Iowa State. First of all, I can't believe this kid didn't get drafted. He could have been taken any time on day 3. So he probably needs to get stronger and work on his run technique but he is a heady player with another crazy athletic profile. Basically he's the anti Leo Chenal. 250 pounds but really good in coverage. Agility scores were great and it shows on the field. Can play Sam, Mike and be a big nickel backer. I am not sure why he flew under the radar so hard. Experienced guys with his size and athletic profile are usually drafted. Check out how close to Leo Chenal he is at the top of this chart. I think this kid has a legit shot at the roster if he can play up to his profile.

I didn't watch much of Watson but I love seen in several places now that he should have gone much earlier. If he can even be what Fenton is that's a win, cause Fenton does not play like a 6th round pick. I'm excited to see what Willams can do as well. He will likely need some time considering the jump in competition but he has serious potential.

I mean, we were 5th in pressure rate in the NFL. Sure we need to do better and also convert to sacks better but when Ingram came on the pressure rate went up. Pressure is cumulative so the more guys you have that can get pressures the harder u make life on the opposing QB. Ingram is just part of the equation but he definitely helped.

What's wrong with having an above replacement level player as your 5th corner making 2.5m?

Why would we get rid of Fenton. He's a decent to good corner.
