  1. For comparison, the first 3 years of Josh Allen's contract, after his 5th year option this year, the cap hits are 39m, 41m and 51m. https://www.si.com/nfl/chiefs/gm-report/kansas-city-chiefs-patrick-mahomes-contract-restructuring-breakdown Salary Cap Hits in a Given Year (Before restructure / After restructure) 2021: $24.81 million / $7.43 million 2022: $31.45 million / $13.23 million 2023: $42.45 million / $24.2 million 2024: $39.95 million / $28.18 million 2025: $41.95 million / $33.96 million 2026: $41.95 million / $37.40 million 2027: $59.95 million / $49.30 million 2028: $44.45 million / $51.6 million (The first year the future cap hit is above the current cap hit.) From 2020 to 2026, the contract transformed from a seven-year/$227.9 million contract averaging $32.5 million per year to a seven-year/$149.73 million contract, averaging just $21.39 million a year.
  2. Well on the other side, he's 6'4" and ran in the 4.2's and is already a pretty good zone corner with ball skills from being a former receiver. He's a work in progress in man but has elite recovery speed and looks much better in press than off man, which is fine cause we press more than just about anybody. I think he could start by year 2 and could develop into a number 1 corner.
  3. Low floor high ceiling players don't usually go in the first. 2nd sounds right. I say round 4 cause dude has no idea what he's doing yet... but tons of potential. He doesn't really have the press or pattern match skills we want (yet) but has the length and athleticism for it. We also haven't seen him do agility testing yet which is important for a corner his size to show he can be mutiple in coverage. If the agility isn't quite there, I could see him go in 3rd-4th or so. Small school + low experience level + agility issues = drop in draft. Wouldn't matter so much for us, but most teams don't play all the press we do. fwiw, I think he'll do fine in agility so this probably won't happen.
  4. Good solid corners get paid in this league. Not surprising he got that kind of contract but replaceable production. I like Tariq Woolen in the 3rd as a developmental press guy if he's there. Long and fast is right up our alley, but his athletic profile suggest he may go higher.
  5. Chiefs have some work to do in the slot. Our 2 best corners can both play slot but more valuable outside. Reid does a lot of things very well but does not match up in man out of the slot like HB could do.
  6. I was a proponent of resigning HB and I wish him well, but Veach knocked it out if the park with the Reid signing. Not quite as good but great value deal for a similar player. Lots of safeties in the draft as well so I expect we'll see one there or another value signing in the 2nd wave of free agency.
  7. This is a really good signing. Cheaper than I thought he'd be and good versatile young player.
  8. Hill about to get paid Bottom is Kirk's stats from last year. How you gonna overpay a slot only guy like that. With incentives, Kirk's deal goes over 20m per.
  9. Makes sense. If you can keep him for a year at same cap hit as if you released him that's a win. Says to me KC don't like the FA options. Za'darius would be my first call though.
  10. Reminder, anyone released from a contract does not count in the compensatory pick formula. So Za'darius Smith, Landry, Landon Collins, Saffold, Bobby Wagner, all releases.
  11. You may be waiting just a bit longer on clark. We don't have to be under the cap until Wed when the league year and free agency start. Makes sense to slow play and figure out your options (trade, restructure, what FA edges will go for what, etc.. ). You can cut him at any time. Smith is a good player but is coming off a back injury which may depress his value a bit.
  12. Iggles were trying to trade him before the trade deadline last fall, hence all the speculation about him.
  13. Villaneuva also led the league in sacks given up (17 vs 4 for OBJ), had a horrible year, and just retired.
