  1. Points per play is just a more granular version of points per drive and accounts for things like 1 play drives vs 15 play drives.
  2. Time of possession is massively overrated for us. Points per play would matter much more. In fact, Kansas City is the poster child for this. In 2019 we were 19th overall and dead last at home in time of possession... and won the Superbowl. Didn't seem to hold us back. Guess who was first in points per play?
  3. Not if KC gave permission but I have not seen a report that says they did. Considering how much they like Sammy I doubt it happened.
  4. Best game I've ever been to for sure. We left a convention early and drove overnight from San Antonio to go. First quarter was starting to regret that decision.
  5. Feel free to worry. You should. I predict lots of 2nd to 4th place finishes for you.
  6. Just shows how desperate teams are for interior pass rush. They're not desperate for run stoppers, they're a dime a dozen. Just because Buckner is a good pass rusher does not mean he is on CJ's, Cox's or Donald's level. He's not.
  7. We can literally pull a LB that can stop the run but can't defend the pass out of our collective asses. Rags is the very definition of a replacement level player.
  8. I literally addressed that in my post. It doesn't matter what analytics you use or which analysts you like they all think CJ is the much better pass rusher. You're putting way to much stock in run stopping, and the NFL already settled that debate with money.
  9. Buckner is not on CJs level as a pass rusher. He's been benefiting from an elite dline and has a much higher cleanup rate than guys like CJ and Donald, meaning he's not creating the pressure, he's cleaning up after someone else created the pressure. CJ also has proven scheme versatlility, whereas Buckner does not. As well, positional versatility, in that CJ has done it inside and out. When SF wanted to move a tackle outside there's a reason they would let Armstead roam. Or look at something like pressure rate. CJ is the only other guy in the same hemisphere as Donald. Here's one source but feel free to pick your own source. Pff: https://www.pff.com/news/draft-why-the-san-francisco-49ers-trade-of-deforest-buckner-to-the-indianapolis-colts-was-a-sensational-move Buckner has been a good player over the course of his four-year career with the ‘Niners. He owns PFF grade ranks of 31st, 17th, 25th and ninth and has been an above-average player against the run and getting after the quarterback in the pass-rush. Key words being “above average.” Buckner isn’t the elite pass-rusher many have made him out to be. In his four seasons in the NFL, Buckner has generated pressure on 10.6% of his pass-rush reps, which is a solid rate that ranks 12th among interior defensive linemen. But more than 27% of those pressures were from a cleanup or unblocked, which isn’t nearly as bad as some interior pass-rushers but isn’t nearly as good as the elite guys. Donald owns the lowest rate at 12.5%, with Chris Jones the second-lowest at 15.6%. It's true that Buckner has accumulated the third-most sacks since he came into the league. But sacks are one of the last things you should look at when evaluating a pass-rusher. Second, not all sacks are created equal. Consider the following: Most sacks that were a cleanup/unblocked since 2016 among interior pass-rushers Player Sacks DeForest Buckner 16 Cameron Heyward 16 Jurrell Casey 15 Kenny Clark 14 Denico Autry 13 (Note: PFF does not award half sacks like the basic box score.) There have been 71 interior defensive linemen to log at least 1,500 snaps since 2016. Buckner ranks 16th among that group in PFF WAR.
  10. Sammy never hit the market this year so we really learned nothing of the sort. What we learned was Sammy was willing to renegotiate to stay in KC. That's it. All the rest was speculation.
  11. Veach is smart and aggressive. If he hasn't earned our trust by now that says more about us than him.
  12. Yes top 51 rules apply. We'll have to do something before the draft but honestly it's not a huge deal. We have enough younger guys we like that extending someone should be pretty easy. Tyreek, Schwartz and Kelce seem obvious candidates.
  13. Draft picks are assigned a tender value and charged to your cap after you pick them. I believe the charge goes on the next day. After you sign them to contracts the tender number is replaced by the actual amount. So we'll have to make some sort of move, but as balto said there's many ways to do that.
  14. Correct. Played 84% of the defensive snaps, no stats. In 6 playoff games in KC, total of 1.5 sacks. Had 1 sack in 3 playoff games with 9ers (in their first playoff game) Frank Clark had 5 sacks in our 3 playoff games for those keeping score at home.
  15. Not to mention that Clark and HB changed the entire attitude of the defense. That's priceless right there.
  16. Not to mention the guy had known back issues. That's not good.
  17. Yeah but what are his contract demands? Sure this year his contract is manageable but he's a free agent after this year. Plus we'd have 9 mil in dead money from trading Fish.
  18. The only reason he'll get traded is he wants a big ass contract. Don't think we can afford him, plus we'd have to give up a pick. No thanks.
  19. No huge holes at this point. Areas that need an upgrade, absolutely, but when you won a superbowl with a position group can it really be called a hole?
  20. Personally I think that was amazing work on Veach's part, doubly so with no money to speak of. KC smells blood in the water. Those 2 changes were huge for our chances of a repeat.
  21. Yeah really there's nothing to complain about. BPA in the draft.
