    Correct, full amount of tag is charged to the cap when applied by the team, not when player signs it. Signing a long term contract would almost certainly lower the cap hit this year if they structured it that way.

    I don't think there's anyway those scenarios are likely. They need a QB still. Plus I don't think 2 firsts are that likely unless multiple teams are hot after him.

    I don't know, Jones has proven he can do it in a 34 or 43. That increases the pool of possible teams at least. Teams pay for pass rushers not run stoppers.
