  1. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2023/9/24/23888547/chiefs-news-reid-mahomes-defend-jawaan-taylor-penalties I honestly didn't think those were penalties. I see guys lined up like this all the time.
  2. TL:DR is that a lot of money got shifted from later years to 2023-26. That total increases his cap hits the next 3 years after this one. But because of how they shifted it, a lot more $ can be converted to other types of money that can be spread out over multiple years and they can now do it later in the league year, after FA and the draft = flexibility. So good news bad news basically.
  3. Hard to tell if that will last. They have such an easy schedule so maybe it will. Can't say as I'm a big believer in that team. Ceiling is probably Titans from a few years ago or typical Ravens team.
  4. Give it time. They'll get it sorted with the tackles. Pass block win rate does not account for Mahomes scrambling away from pressure just how often the line wins their reps. Promising.
  5. Some of the leagues best WR are 2nd round. Seems to be the sweet spot for them. Fwiw, Rice is the highest graded WR on the team and is actually pretty high overall for a rookie only playing in packages. TE it's hard to tell. Good ones come all over the draft but the better athletes usually day 1 or 2 unless they have issues.
  6. Over the next 3 years there are almost 50m in roster bonuses that can be restructured. And that's kinda where I'm at. And hey listen, if there's anyone that can just burn the rules as we know them about modern roster construction it's Mahomes. He's already won a superbowl while taking up the highest % of the cap. They used to say you couldn't go over 15% in the modern era. Well, you couldn't... then Mahomes. So fuck it. Happy Mahomes, happy life.
  7. Andy is about 6 years younger than BB. Seems like he'll probably drop in his office rather than retire.
  8. The original contract not so much, but after this rework, yeah. Honestly though you are correct in that every team with a 2nd contract QB will be dealing with this. Rookie QB contract teams with a good rookie continue to have a huge advantage. Those teams that don't take advantage of it are dumb.
  9. I mean it's not all bad. Without CJ they still have a lot of cap space to work with, especially if the cap jumps as expected. But I definitely did not see this kind of rework coming. Smells of Agents.
  10. The Eagles center told 94 WIP in Philadelphia that he is convinced that his younger brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is dating Taylor Swift. “It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know a lot about Travis’ love life,” Jason said when asked about the rumored relationship. “I try to keep his business kind of his business, and stay out of that world. “But having said that, I think he’s doing great and I think it’s all 100 percent true.” However, Jason quickly walked back his comments, and clarified: “No I’m joking. I don’t even know what’s happening.” Jason added he was “caught off guard” when he was asked about his brother and Swift during the postgame interview following Philadelphia’s Thursday Night Football” victory over the Vikings last week.
  11. Not so fast. Details starting to roll in. Not going to sugar coat this. TL;DR: Woof this is a complicated contract. Forget CJ, all that cap space just went to Mahomes (unless he obviously gies way down in price). This actually explains why Veach put such a hard line on CJ's offer, since he knew this was coming. This is not good for KC's cap. Lot of money shifted from bonuses to base salary overall = lots of flexibility lost in this contract. All numbers approximate so don't @me about pennies on the dollar. Good thing the cap is expected to go way up as TV and gambling contracts fully kick in 2023 2023 Cash totals 56m + 2022 incentives paid 2.5m. Cap space freed up is from earned 2022 incentives being converted. 2024 cap # 57m woof up 10m 8.6m base salary 34.9m roster bonus due May 5 2024 not fully guaranteed at signing. Guarantees 3 days after signing (so guaranteed now). This 3 day difference would presumably be so it doesn't immediately accelerate to that years cap. 2025 Cap # goes up 48m to 60m 16.65m base salary, guaranteed 3rd day of league year 32.35m roster bonus works same way as 2024 roster bonus. 2026 Cap # goes up from 44m, up 18m to 63m 45.35m base salary guarantees same way as roster bonuses 10.4m roster bonus, same thing. 3rd day of 2025 year becomes fully guaranteed. 2027 Nothing matters 2027 or later since they'll revisit after 2026. Money starts going way down 2027 amd later now but those will be renegotiated so doesn't matter. Other: Yearly 2.5m bonuses turned into salary escalators. 1.25 for conference championship game + league MVP. 1.25m superbowl win + plays 50% of plays in league year or the superbowl. Would escalate into the next years salary when earned. 2 void years at the end of contract if on roster at beginning of 2029 league year. There is still things they can do with converting roster bonuses but overall this looks like a big cash grab by Mahomes’ agents, Cabot and Steinburgh.
  12. Or they could rotate some of the others in. They have 7. See if Rice and Ross can make a dent. Rice has looked good in limited action but probably still learning the offense.
  13. I imagine it will be more option bonuses or some other sort of guaranteed bonuses. They moved when the bonuses are due from March at the beginning of the league year to May. That says they want more flexibility to restructure after FA and draft. Right now they have to do it at the start of the league year. Since they kept that long framework they can still convert cash and spread the hits out. I trust Mahomes and Veach/Borgonzi will structure this to stay competitive. So far they been playing chess on the contracts when the rest of the league be playing checkers. Can't wait to see the details.
  14. No it's not. When Bolton, Humphrey and Smith are up f9r contract it's closer to 140m in cap space pre mahomes contract reshuffle and whatever we do next year. Chiefs are in shape to resign who they want.
  15. I love how Jawaan Taylor been doing this shit for 5 years in Jville and nobody gave a shit but do it for 2 games in KC and IT'S OH MY GOD THE HORROR!!!!! BTW here's best left tackle in the league Trent Williams lining up pretty much the same way last week. Spotlight is bright in KC is all I can say. Need to clean it up Jawaan and watch that jump as well.
  16. This defense is gonna be sick with CJ back in the fold. Once Omenihu gets back watch out. Offense will get it figured out. Very encouraged by this game, that was a good offense. Punt Punt Punt FG after the RZ turnover on a short field Fumble Turnover on downs FG Punt Punt FG Turnover on downs
  17. Won't be resigned, under contract, won't be resigned, under contract, under contract.
  18. Little over 203.5m in obligations even if CJ hits all NLTBE incentives. Not sure how that equates to up against the cap. If the cap goes up as expected, that puts us around 40m under. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/cap/2024/
