  1. He's not being paid 30m this year, that's just his cap hit.
  2. That's where people go wrong. They read salary as base salary but replace the word salary with salary cap hit, which is what they use to determine the 120%
  3. Ok so math says top 5 AAV at DT is 24.708m so that would be the floor for an exclusive tag. That would actually be higher than 120% of his salary cap hit with 8 games missed and him earning his incentive.
  4. His franchise tag next year would be over 33m if he shows up since its 120% of his salary cap hit this year. However if he holds out til week 8 his cap hit this year is reduced so the tag next year would be 120% of his reduced cap hit this year. Base salary this year would be reduced by 8 game checks, so that would come off the cap and his cap hit. Game checks are base salary divided by 17. I would guess 120% of that is more than the average top 5 at his position so probably a tag in the low to mid 20's. No way will he make it much easier for KC to tag him next year, that would be a really dumb move by his agent.
  5. The first one may have to happen in a blowout or Andy may go off. Once proof of concept happens, it's on.
  6. My point wasn't that scarcity = value. The value in DT over end is that historically offenses with elite QBs have been able to gameplan around edge pressure easier than interior pressure. Even Payton and Brady were not immune to this so when you get to postseason it can still wreck gameplams. With ends you can chip with tight ends, use misdirection, hot reads, get the ball out quick, etc... harder to do all that with interior pressure when you have a guy that can get pressure even with double teams.
  7. You could make a good arguement that an elite pass rusher at DT is more valuable than an elite pass rusher at end. And there are only 2 consistently elite pass rushers at DT in the NFL right now over the last 5 years. Lot of good young ones but they're not there yet. I'd love to know where Veach's line is.
  8. Mike Cox is worth the price of admission alone. People pay a lot of money to see Mike Cox.
  9. Yes it's a tragedy for sure. Definitely not long enough. I'm sure Jet would have liked to get a good hard look at him.
  10. Well stated. I do think CJ at his age could be dominant for enough years to justify a big new contract. DTs tend to not fall off the cliff as fast as some other positions and AD was playing really well last year at 33 before he got hurt.
  11. Stop thinking about Mike Cox. It's getting weird.
  12. Will y'all quit forgetting about Mike Litoris, he's very sensitive about that. You can toss balls anywhere near Mike Litoris and you won't regret it.
  13. Is this why all your takes are dumb? You get your opinions from a douchebag lawyer like florio and dumb sites like arrowhead addict? There are much smarter analysts out there if you want to take time to learn. And I've been on the pay CJ bandwagon from the start so go sell it somewhere else.
  14. bro you're not gonna win anyone over by dropping a Mike Florio take. @arrowheadyou got any opinions on Mike Florio?
  15. Post your overreactions to all the Preseason games here
  16. Yeah I'd agree. Would be nice but I would get it if they tag and trade next year. Hopefully after the first back to back boats in 20 years.
  17. We all guessed Raiders fan but I guess Jags fan is the winner.
  18. Yes with an almost completely different roster, the first of the last 3 superbowls coming 6 years after that trade. Reminder while inarguably successful they also went 10 years without a superbowl win while rocking with the 🐐 at QB.
  19. I don't know about that. Game wreckers at DT are almost impossible to find and they don't become available in their prime.
