Don't think that list is as short as you think. It's definitely a risk but frankly 19m & 15m cap hits for a proven receiver are pretty good even if you take on the full salary. It doesn't really handicap your future as it's only 2 years. Further he would restructure for the same reason that any player restructures - bird in the hand. For example, if you added 2 fake years to the contract you could convert 20 mil to signing bonus for 5 mil cap hit per over 4 years. Now his 2 year salary is 14 mil. Do a min salary this year for @6-7m hit, then next year it rises but you have more cap room next year. 5 mil for the 2 add on years should be easy to absorb as the gambling money amd new tv contracts kick in to the cap by then. I'm just saying that contract is easily doable. I'm also saying we need another reliable receiver however we get one. DHop, another trade, draft, whatever.

Yes. And that's cause a) our nose kinda sucked (yay, he's back!) and b) not a lot of teams run it down our throat cause it's hard to beat mahomes doing that. But still for obvious run downs and situational football you need a good fatty. Can find one cheap in FA or on day 3 so it's not like it's a huge investment. Would be nice to find one with pass rush ability too but those guys are hard to find.

Well yeah, any d lineman who can bring any sort of heat on pass rush will always be more coveted than a run stopper (especially so when they are a replacement level player). I would guess Nnadi signed a VSP contract so the cap hit here is likely negligible. Likely we find a new nose on day 3. A guy like Broderick Martin might need some time to develop but seems like a good fit for us.

Our defense got picked on in the middle of the field cause our linebackers are decent to good but not great in coverage and can be exploited with the right matchups. Tranquill was one of the better coverage linebackers in the league last year and comes at a good price point for us. Tranquill is an LB type we do not have on the roster. I don't believe he'll hold up well vs the run but that's not what he's here for.

Mecole is also still out there. Doubt he gets more than a prove it deal at this point.

Unless hes amenable to taking less money (doubt it) do 4 years max, restructure his 2023 salary to signing bonus, tack on 2 fake years to spread the cap hit out. Otherwise be prepared for a higher draft pick to compensate the Cards for eating part if his salary.

Bro, there is about a 0% chance that Tranquil will be stealing Sam snaps from Chenal in Spags defense. He doesn't have the size for what Spags wants. He is more likely to steal some snaps from Bolton, especially in dime. Bolton really improved in coverage but he's not on Tranquil's level as a zone defender. Considering how much Nickel we play I would bet he's in on a lot of those snaps as well. I do agree Gay will lose some snaps here as well, depending on the situation.

fwiw he denied the report he was asking for 20m. No idea what the asking price is. He does have a ring so I don't think he'll play for our offer but could be wrong. I tend to think our offer will be heavy on incentives and per game bonuses.
