  1. Tickets go on sale Monday. Tailgating will be allowed with every other spot open. Tickets will be sold in “Pods” of six.
  2. Our former guard Geoff Schwartz. blogged about this a few weeks back Too sum up the lack of offseason program and preseason is going to cost a lot of the late round or UDFAs jobs short term. Just no way around it with so little time to prepare. It’s likely going to effect the impact of a lot of rookies period. Meanwhile we’ve got a rookie RB running with the first team. So clearly they are trying all they can to get him up to speed. Sounds like they are limiting the role of W Gay this year or for now.
  3. Fun fact. My daughters school the ONW Ravens have only 1 less NFL playoff win than the Baltimore Ravens during the Andy Reid era in KC.
  4. I’m in Olathe. 25 miles from Arrowhead. We have a Chiefs bus we’ve ridden to games for years which is now a monument in the parking lot of The Other Place at 135th and Mur Len. You can’t miss it, it’s so ugly. But the paint job says World Champs now and that makes it priceless.
  5. Maybe the best 12 months by a GM in sports history. Perhaps an exaggeration but I don’t care. Brett Veach for President!
  6. Any notion that teams should simply use a chart and go for it on 4th down in any situation according to it its plain wrong in my opinion. It's more information for a good coach and play caller. But they better understand whats actually happening at that point and time and how player matchups and scheme are dictating different actions. You should never play call scared (which is what many coaches do at critical times) but you also shouldn't play call stupid. (which means not adapting to what is actually happening).
  7. The best QB in the NFL will be 23rd in CAP hit this year, 13th next year and has nearly the exact same CAP as Dak Prescott is set to have this year in 2022. Take that CAP value up about 25% by 2022 and that means in three years we will have a 27 year old multi Super Bowl champion QB making 25% less by value than Dak Prescott did in 2019.
  8. Schwartz is the best RT in football. He just rarely gets beat. Fisher is solid. Those two battled their asses off and won battle against Bosa/Ford. The middle three are all below average and need to be replaced. 49ers killed us in between the tackles. That said with the two starters in at tackle we probably average over 30 PPG in Mahomes career. So imagine some actual competence there. Overall though Mahomes makes that line look better than it is with unbelievable instinctiveness. Head up, subtle moves...he's just brilliant under duress.
  9. Carr started every game as a rookie and Flowers started 14 that same season. Pretty amazing two rookies could play that well. Fenton in a more limited role overall but played well when given the opportunity including several starts.
  10. Lets also not forget Veach made massive changes to the defensive personel as well. It was one of the best total reclamation projects you will ever see happen that fast and without early first and second round picks.
  11. The kind of pure comedy I needed today reading the first few pages of this topic.
  12. So you are predicting we are screwed then? Not buying it.
  13. Meh. We aren’t f*cked at all. We just won the World Championship with Reiter starting every game.
  14. Writing him off especially after what we’ve already seen from Daly and Spags makes no sense. He’s a talented kid who can help if motivated. But if he comes to camp 50 pounds overweight I also think they would question that motivation and put him on thin ice.
  15. No doubt they are deep in the Dline and took on another reclamation project with Taco. Speaks is talented enough if he comes in serious he will make the team and I’d bet on him being productive. If they sense he’s not taking it seriously I’d agree he could be cut quickly. We are in too good of a spot now to not just admit mistakes and move on.
  16. The way Daly and Spags saved Tanoh and Ogbahs careers, I wouldn’t bet against them in this spot with a player who clearly has some talent and played completely out of position as a rookie. Will Speaks come into camp 50 pounds over weight is my concern.
  17. I think he’s simply an average NFL passer that struggles as most do when opponents dictate play and know what’s coming. He’s great with a lead though.
  18. No doubt. When your QB completes only 18 passes total for less than 200 yards in two games; you’ve clearly completely dominated overwhelmed competition.
  19. The difference is Baltimore didn’t have the offense to put Tannehill into pressure situations. The Titans played the game on their terms which makes mediocre QBs look much better than they really are. And most importantly set Tennessee up to do what they did best. Run the ball down your throats. Make Tannehill the offensive catalyst and that Titans offense losses its identity and its edge. It’s why being diverse In January is usually so important. Of course the 49ers got to Miami anyway.
  20. I’m not happier but I’m also not concerned. Our QB is anything but the normal and in some ways can refine common football logic. I mean four straight drives of 80-94 yards for TDs in the playoffs?!?! Are you kidding me. Meanwhile a 3rd and 8 with Alex Smith almost felt like a punting situation.
  21. First off I went to look at those stats with no preconceived notion and wasn’t really trying to back either side. But cherry pick or not those stats painted a dramatic picture I really didn’t expect. I’ve read for years the two most important stats in football are actually YPA pass offense and defense. And guess what. The bottom six teams in YPA pass defense all missed the playoffs. Whereas 6 of the top 7 best at that stat made the playoffs including both Super Bowl teams. I absolutely hate static approaches that suggest absolutes. Of course run defense matters. The Titans game proved that without a doubt. Heck if SF keeps running instead of getting pass happy with Garrapolo they very well may have beaten us. It all matters. It’s why Andy and Brett drafted CEH in round 1. Just in the overall scheme of things your ability to play pass defense and pass offense matter more.
  22. 6 of the top 7 teams in PASSING YPA defense made the playoffs. Only 1 of the bottom 7 did (Houston). You better not be giving up chunk yardage through the air if you want to win in this league. Meanwhile 3 of the bottom 6 in YPA RUSHING made the playoffs. While NONE of the top 6 made the playoffs.
  23. Spags took over two reclamation projects where he got legitimate time to build it right and wasn't saddled with head coaching duties and both turned into top 5 groups in year two. I think top ten is very realistic although keep in mind our offense and big leads can lead to decieving cheap yardage given up.
  24. Elite players have a resolve that bonds then all. Michael Jordan is the absolute best team sports athlete of my lifetime I really see some early similarity with Mahomes although it is absurd to compare the two right now.
  25. And it had zero to do with Alex’s arm. He just couldn’t buy time in the pocket to go through that deep progression if it wasn’t the first option. Mahomes is unbelievably intuitive on where WRs will be and instinctive on how to create time to get the pass off and avoid pressure.
