  1. I’ve read a lot of Andy’s comments the past few weeks about how teams are playing safeties so deep that it makes deep shots very tough. One play last week the Chargers ditched the deep safety and went to a shallow cover 2 look. Mahomes read it and got the ball deep to Tyreek. I think the maturation of our QB is big here as well. You’ve got to take what they give you and recognize when to take the big shots. That said one thing I know. Watson vs Mahomes in divisional playoff game has to draw the ire of Bears fans everywhere.
  2. Make Watson a pocket passer. He can destroy a defensive game plan if you let him run wild. We’ve got to be better against a mediocre Hyde. Not sure if we’ve given up a 100 yard rusher since then so there’s hope. And we need to run better ourselves.
  3. May be our biggest advantage in the game Reid > OBrien. Great QB play can mitigate that. Spags needs a great game plan vs Watson.
  4. Exactly right! They rallied from 17 down at Arrowhead and 16 down yesterday. Some teams you can just milk leads against, Andy has to know this isn’t one of those. Chiefs open as a staggering 9 1/2 point favorite.
  5. Leave it to a Mizzou alumni to throw shade at his own school. 😂 Many doctors including the DO who work at the University of Kansas Center for Sports Medicine did some sort of undergrad, residency or fellowship at Mizzou. So I guess you are right. Maybe that is the problem.
  6. Much different. But Thornhills loss is very concerning especially if Fuller can play for the Texans. Those safeties are the glue of this defense and a big reason Spags can disguise coverages so well. Just not sure what to expect.
  7. Four of five starters played. Fisher the missing guy. Unfortunately he hasn’t been the same since coming back from injury. His play will he huge.
  8. Texans beat us up at Arrowhead in October with 15 more first downs and a whopping 19 minute TOP advantage. We’ve gor our hands full.
  9. Kittles PFF grade is off the charts but the advanced metrics don’t line up with your assessment. In fact neither was the best tight end here. But when you also look at simple yards per game and yards per catch which eliminate missed games from injury, Kelce was better. With multiple game injuries to nearly every other starting Chiefs skill position player really make his reliability this year a massively important measure of his value as well. Both great bit there’s no way you can say Kittle is clearly better without evaluating blocking and their roles there. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/te/2019
  10. I’d prefer a guy who’s proven he can be a red zone threat and won’t break the bank. Ebron could be the type of guy you could convince to take a short term prove it deal playing with Mahomes. . I’m not willing to let Watkins walk and hope an undrafted completely unproven guy like Fortson can help. My choice would be to add one veteran WR or TE. Not a high profile signing, but a guy who fits.
  11. We really need another red zone target with likely loss and disappointing play of Watkins. This is the type that could make sense.
  12. Fuller is only 24 as well. The guy has proven he can flat play in the slot and now has added some free safety to his resume as well. Hard to gage much this year with the injury or last year when he was in Suttons scheme. Hopefully we can get a long look the next month but I'm in for keeping Fuller over Breeland personally.
  13. To put that in perspective, 35 QBs make more per season that he does.
  14. In Houston’s case the doctors completely misdiagnosed the problem and he was sent back out to play which made things even worse. That’s just a massive fail that would cause me to look for second opinions. That said the Chiefs don’t have a doctor on staff. They contract that out to University of Kansas Health systems and a team of doctors with very good national reputation. And I know the primary surgeon they use (Dr Barnthouse) has a great reputation outside of football. Either way our issues really don’t reflect Birkholder and our actual training staff.
  15. He’s very effective in the more limited role that Spags has used him (roughly half the snaps). Concern would be short term he’s gonna have to play more. His CAP hit at 4.75 isn’t a killer in 2020 but 3.75 of it can be saved by cutting him. I’d say he’s 50-50 maybe leaning higher with Thorns injury. Fuller is the guy who can play FS and every CB position which helps Spags disguise defenses. I’d say odds we resign him just jumped significantly but they will hopefully get another month to evaluate an expanded role.
  16. Justin Houston was by far the crowning glory of failure. Chiefs doctors also had real problems with Jamaal Charles knee later in his career. Overall the problem is overstated largely because of the very high profile nature of these three.. You’ve also had some major injuries where stars have returned less than a year later and had big years. Including Jamaal Charles after a torn ACL in 2011 and Eric Berry.in 2012. And obviously major props should go out to Rick Burkholder and how he handles Mahomes knee dislocation from the get go. Probably saved our season. But it’s been a mixed bag.
  17. I’m not remotely sold that Watts, Lucas or DOD aren’t gigantic drop offs from Thornhill. There’s a reason these guys get almost no snaps. Losing Thornhill has the look of a major blow. Hope one of these guys proves me wrong.
  18. The way technology is and considering his age and natural athleticism, it would be shocking if he didn’t return to full strength. But if Fuller can hold up in deep safety it makes the decision whether to keep him much easier.
  19. Lol. He’s already got a fiancé. But from what I hear she does have a thriving internet based apparel business.
  20. At one point Brady was the highest paid player in NFL history. It wasn’t until his mid 30s did these extensions start to show a hometown discount. Even still at 42 his CAP hit this year is still 21 million. Mahomes is going to be the highest paid player in NFL history very soon. Contract over 200 million is almost a certainty but most importantly that guarantee is likely going to be over 150 million. They can however keep his CAP number reasonable the next two years. After that he’s likely gonna near a 40 million dollar cap hit. Good news is the salary cap itself is also expected to dramatically rise with new tv/streaming rights contract and CBA. On point though Mahomes didn’t hire Leigh Stenberg to give a hometown discount. This contract will need to be creative.
  21. I think their style of play is tough for anyone. Gritty physical team with good skill position talent. Tannehill is basically what Alex Smith was for us.
  22. Tannehill led the NFL in passer rating. Brown is going to be AFC Rookie of the Year as one of the best young WRs in football and Corey Davis is no slouch. No doubt the offense goes through Henry but it’s a very solid overall group around him. They can give the Pats and even Ravens some trouble IMO.
  23. Well done. Although I’d resign Chris Jones. But if his contract demands get too out of control tag and trade is certainly an option. I’m not content with our RB situation either. And we’ve got to get another red zone target for Mahomes. I think 13-14 wins is possible with some injury luck and a strong offseason.
