  1. You should count on having to win one ugly slugfest in January if you want to hoist the Lombardi. Game defensive effort wasn’t good enough but 8 TFL and 4 sacks flashed some real system promise. The MVP pulled an Elway by being mortal all game but pulling out the W with clutch play anyway.
  2. There’s no doubt BB and Patricia talked this week IMO. Served both of them for Lions to win.
  3. Great recognition by Andy. They were throwing our WRs off routes and blanketing Kelce causing major problems in the red zone. He made a statement to the oline by doing this even though it’s certainly not what we do best.
  4. Only 16 teams in NFL history post merger have opened the season 4-0 with three road games included. And the Chiefs have now done it two years in a row.
  5. Nobody in the NFL has played more road games than we have. Nobody in the NFL has two ten point deficit wins. We haven’t played a sub 500 team. Only 3 unbeaten s left. And we’ve played most of the first quarter of that season without WR1, RB1 and LT1. I feel pretty damn good personally!
  6. Disagree completely. Clark is the single most accounted for player by the opposing offense every week. He’s a blue collar on field tone setter rather than a flashy one trick pony. Ask the coaching staff and our opponents about his contributions
  7. I think he may have watched the Packers game! I haven’t seen that much commitment to the run in short yardage situations ever. And Cam Erving sucks!
  8. We are getting every teams best shot every week. My good friend was at the game and a season ticket holder told him he hadn’t heard it that loud ever. Welcome to life as one of the elite.
  9. He can be really good when playing from ahead. Otherwise he’s a liability. All that said please move this thread away from Chiefs talk. We’ve been better than they are for a long time and the gap is just growing.
  10. That defense has taken clear step backward as MOST of us thought. And their QB isn’t going to stage many comebacks.
  11. Reminder about task at hand. The Lions beat the Patriots by 16 points last September. They also shut down an Eagles offense in our offensive system. Play our game and take them out of theirs. That’s how we’ve demoralized our first three opponents in the first half. I think this will be tougher.
  12. “A violently executed plan is sometimes better than a perfectly executed plan.” - #Chiefs DL coach Brendan Daly at Tuesday’s pre Lions presser. Man if this defense can ever develop an attitude like this. Look out! Stafford will play, Slay a game time decision. Lions expect a raucous sellout crowd hoping noise level in the Dome will be a problem for Mahomes and our offense. (I’m gonna be seriously worried about left side until Fish is back). Game stat to watch. The Lions are allowing the third fewest 3rd down conversions overall and the fewest yards. The Chiefs are converting the third most and the most yards. Only four true road games left after today.
  13. Lions Dline and secondary are legit. I think this is the breakout big game for Kelce.
  14. Spagnuola- "As a staff, as a group of players and coaches, we're still trying to figure out what it is we do best, who fits where. There is still a little bit of that going on and throughout the season we'll be doing that." Frank Clark- "It's a new defense,. That's the biggest challenge. I've been saying it all year. When you've got a new defense, there are a lot of challenges. It's not going to be perfect ... you're going to fail wishing for that every time. There are still guys grasping the concept of where they need to be, where they need to fill and exactly what job they exactly need to do." Andy Reid - "We're so close," You see it. We're right there. We're getting our hands on the ball or we're hesitant in some areas to go get the ball. They're small things but I look at that and I go, ‘You give that a little time and those things change.'
  15. Yep. We haven’t faced a legit QB yet who is capable of exposing our corners. The type of QBs you will see in January
  16. Rodgers looked good. Especially down the stretch until that tipped INT. Inability or unwillingness to run the ball from the two yard line sometimes gets you what you deserve. Must be a Packers or former Packers coaches thing. But kind of a reminder you have to be able to run the ball in short yardage situations to keep defense honest even if you prefer to pass.
  17. Grunny talked about that on the radio this week. He said its plain as day when watching the film this defense is playing really hard. But likewise that players look like they are still not real sure of what they are supposed to do and often leaving their gap responsibilites. He was pretty adamant about seeing more speed and likes the overall potential. But you are right in line with him that this is clearly a work in progress. Its almost like rookie draft picks. You need more time to really be able to evaluate this thing. And on point is the reality it wasn't year one, but year two that Spags delivered MASSIVE improvement in two of his defenses.
  18. Film review would highly suggest your eyeball test was wrong.
  19. Andy was forced to go with a lot of 12 packages with two tight ends instead of the usual 11 to help him out. With a turf field they will be on him even faster and the Lions have a better Dline that the Ravens.
  20. Love the part where Mahomes was screaming to ignore what the Ravens were saying. Lots of chirping and cheap shots that they couldn’t back up against us. You can’t talk your way into being a big dog team!
  21. Unfortunately that probably works against our Cam Erving LT situation
  22. Suddenly the Lions win in Philly is looking pretty good. We may have a game here.
