  1. That's the thing. You have to know when to go down and not fight for that extra few yards. Mahomes does this at times too, just not nearly as much. In fact he was running around the outside about to start blocking for Mecole on a play on Sunday when he came to his sense and did a baseball slide. The Ravens offense itself puts LJ at more risk and it has to because he isn't the passer the MVP is. But LJ can't help create more risk than he has too.
  2. Hard to say. Mahomes was SO good at crunch time in that game that it's really almost hard to fathom. I doubt there was ever a situation that Aikman for instance was asked to do what Patrick had to to keep his team in the game. As a 23 year old in his first year as a starter backed by a historically bad defense. Kind of similar to Elway on some of those Denver teams he just basically carried to a Super Bowl only to get thumped because they weren't a complete team. Those seasons by Elway were actually more impressive to me than the years he actually won it and was backed by a great all around team. That's why I'm happy Veach chose to truly rebuild the defense and not just throw band aids like Vermeil did. In the end, Mahomes will be judged by winning a Lombardi or more. After 1 year when he carried his franchise further in the playoffs than they've been in 25 years only to lose to the GOAT HC and QB in OT. Yeah, that's rough.
  3. Honestly I really don't think Marino is overlooked at all. If you ask anyone to have a list of the best QBs ever, he's almost always gonna be on it. He's not just some QB.
  4. Seth Keysor- The Athletic · 1h Patrick Mahomes is so good that after literally 1 season as a starter people feel the need to make the "ringz tho" argument about him. Because that's it. That's all that's left. I wonder if those same people think that Eli is one of the best QB's of all time, or Flacco >>>> Dak.
  5. Again in this league when your opponent never had the ball the entire second half with a chance to even get it tied, it’s a sound win. We ran the ball at a 2-1 ratio in the second half and seemed content to put game in the hands of a prevent defense. I disagree with this philosophy and it helped get the score closer than it should have been. This is Andy 101 though. Get the lead by passing Keep it by running Maybe he learns not to take the ball out of the MVPs hands so fast until the D actually proves they can handle it. Other than that there’s not much difference between winning by 1 or 21. This isn’t college football.
  6. Had they not turned the ball over 3 times in the first half against the 49ers in the 1994 NFC Title game, they would have won 4 straight Super Bowls. You really can’t take credit away from anyone associated with that.
  7. Reality is once the Chiefs took a 14 point lead in the second quarter, the Ravens never had the ball again with a chance to even get it tied. Andy shut the offense down, the D became bend don’t break conservative and we got sloppy. To the Ravens credit they kept grinding, got a few fortuitous results on low percentage plays and clawed back within 5. But the game was never legitimately in danger. Really all semantics though.
  8. Looks a ton like RGIII initially to me. Roman has to protect him better than Shanny or he won’t make it through one season.
  9. I like Gottlieb but he’s a basketball guy and that’s a completely different animal than the physical beating you take in football. Aikman wasn’t wrong about either of these statements really. I’m betting his Super Bowl comment was simply tongue and cheek. He gets a ton of crap from people who don’t think he belongs in the HOF.
  10. Score wasn’t indicative of how much better the Chiefs were on Sunday. Looks like the Ravens defense has taken a step backward. Offense a step forward. So maybe a similar overall result. Despite the injuries we look another bump better already but Erving is scary. Lions have a better Dline to exploit that too To your point when you’ve got a big 4th quarter lead it changes everything. We were conservative everywhere and honestly a little sloppy too. Human nature to lose focus though when you think result is in hand. To the Ravens credit they didn’t quit.
  11. Troy is still bitter about losing his first college start to KU. 😂 On point he has s point. But so did Brisco because the MVP is asked to do a lot more than he had too. That was pre salary cap or free agency era and JJ built an unquestionable dynasty juggernaut not even possible today. Troy did win his first title in year 3 as a starter, so we will see if Mahomes gets to that 33 percent number this February on the same timeline.
  12. What’s truly amazing is we piled up over 500 yards and 33 points without LT1, RB1 or WR1. And it took Andy Reid going into milk the clock mode to hold the offense there. We are watching something pretty special. Let’s just hope health smiles on us when it matters, the D continues to develop and Veach can bring in that one extra guy who can help it happen.
  13. So far the defense is giving up 12 PPG thru 3 quarters. We’ve had 17 plus point leads in each as well and the Jags/Ravens games both just sort of disintegrated into sloppy endings because of it. Hard to take much away yet.
  14. Andy said today the way the Ravens were lined up on this play he knew it was going to work. Hardman probably saw this too and was ready to jump out of his shoes at the LOS. Really didn’t matter. They would have thrown flag before the play and we would have crushed it on them 1 play later. Andy and the MVP were just toying with the Ravens D at this point.
  15. I didn't say it was a bad thing. Just reality he called off the dogs offensively with big leads in all three games. Our passing game just overwhelmed the Ravens yesterday even with 3 key guys out. They had no answers and I agree we probably could have scored again if needed. I guess my point is sometimes the scores don't necessarily reflect how dominant we really can be.
  16. Just watched clips of Cameron Ervings first quarter. WOW. A complete disaster! He apparently settled down after that which may help explain when the scorefest started. Wylie actually graded out as our best lineman.
  17. BJ Kissel @ChiefsReporter According to @PFF , #Chiefs DE @EmanOgbah had NINE pressures against the #Ravens yesterday, with Chris Jones and Frank Clark each grabbing FOUR. Overall, the #Chiefs had 26 QB pressures on Sunday. 12:46 PM · Sep 23, 2019·TweetDeck 73 Retweets
  18. Jackson is an average passer and it showed yesterday. Ravens will be a handful for anyone playing from ahead though.
  19. Agree they've done what we’ve needed them too. But again we’ve yet to play a high level passer who could expose our corners. Interesting matchup with Stafford this week.
  20. Good post and the Ravens rushing offense is a challenge for anyone. Pretty spot on theres a price to keeping containment on Jackson outside. Spags had a good general game plan. Butker is a weapon. What I really like is that he doesn’t let rare misses impact his next kick.
  21. The only thing that trumped how bad that pass was, was how poorly the corner played it. The Ravens played recklessly all game and many of those actually ended up working out. But it smelled a little bit like desperation. I think our O and the MVP does that to teams. Ravens are a solid team though and should easily win that division. We are just a level better mainly because of our HC-QB duo.
  22. Gotta add I think it’s clear the Chiefs and Patriots are a tier better than the rest of the AFC. NFC looks pretty wide open to me.
  23. Agree. Being up by three plus TDs in the fourth quarter put the O in cruise control mode. I don’t see any real way the Ravens were ever going to stop Mahomes had Andy kept his foot on the gas. Until our D can prove they can close out games I think he’s gonna need to be more aggressive with the lead. Especially against better passing QBs
  24. 3rd straight week Andy went into milk the clock mode early in the 2nd half with a big lead. KC 1st half play mix Week 1: 8 run/20 pass Week 2: 8 run/26 pass Week 3: 8 run/25 pass KC 2nd half play mix Week 1: 18 run/14 pass Week 2: 14 run/18 pass Week 3: 18 run/12 pass
