  1. I’m not a Robinson fan either. He just looks like a guy who doesn’t completely get it or something strange for a 4 year vet. But for a million bucks there’s just obvious value. And he does have upside.
  2. He’s.a solid backup contributor who because of the new Veteran Salary benefit will make 2.3 million but cost is only 1 million vs the CAP. Essentially what a day two draft pick would cost next year. Plus if you took Robinson’s stats in the quarter season Tyreek was out and extrapolated it out over a season he would’ve had 64 catches, 1,100 yards and 11 TDs. Furthermore not only do we get him dirt cheap but if he continues to improve his odds of getting us a better comp pick improve. This was just an absolute no brainer. Doesn’t preclude us at all from drafting another corner at a similar spot he was drafted too.
  3. Again if Veach wanted to sign a corner then he would have. I worried non stop about our corner situation last offseason and Veach knocked it out of the park with the cheapest corner group in football. There is absolutely nothing keeping Veach from signing a guy to a prove it type deal. I’d bet there are two corners out there somewhere that end up on our roster at some point.
  4. Adding a player in free agency to any real contract costs you in the comp pick formula. And the 1 year cheap contracts are easily navigable within the salary cap. Again if Veach wanted any free agent he could have easily moved money around and done it. Kelce s contract in particular is primed for extension
  5. Not buying it. It wouldn’t have been difficult at all to create CAP room if he valued a player over a comp pick.
  6. Didn’t Kelce, Tyreek and Williams also all have drops?
  7. With the reality of no offseason program and possibly more, it sure seems like continuity on a roster and familiarity with a system will be huge this year. It’s going to be especially hard for new players to learn Andy’s offense. Perfect time observers in the early part of free agency.
  8. He’s not signing any 8 million dollar per year contract unless it’s a 1 year prove it type deal somewhere. And that’s not possible here. It’s a conundrum because he’s been so lights out in the playoffs. How many WRs can line up and beat an elite corner like he did with the Super Bowl on the line. Heck his TD catch sealed the AFC title game too. We aren’t the champs without him. And yet at the same time he just flat disappears for long stretches seemingly unmotivated. But talent and production in the big games is undeniable and it shows up on tape.
  9. I’m sure his agent would prefer to have the ability to negotiate with other teams and find out himself. Watkins has made it pretty clear he thinks he’s worth it. This is really.a Justin Houston type situation if he won’t play ball. I just can’t see him taking any extension here less than that. We will see soon enough. I’d rather move on than pay that if I’m right but Veach loves him. And I trust Brett.
  10. That would be great but I can’t see him taking less than 15-16M per season in any restructuring scenario. It’s such a soft WR market with a deep draft I’m not sure what his agent is telling him. But a big pay cut isn’t happening IMO
  11. Panthers had a solid veteran kicker in Graham Gano and Butker was barely 22 years old and completely untested. I’m less surprised by what they did than how some of these other desperate teams kept picking up journeyman castoffs while Veach showed vision and found an elite guy.
  12. Think about all the kicker turnover around the league since Veach plucked Butker off the Panthers practice squad. Mentally tough with an elite leg.
  13. When I was asked this question I racked my brain thinking of draft picks who won quickly. I came up with its never happened before even as Kurt Warner was so obvious when you think about it. I agree it’s tricky.
  14. Yep. Took a local guy to get it. He did it with only 3 losses. Granted he was 28 years old but still.
  15. Only two players in NFL history have won the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP before losing their 10th game. PM2 and can you name the other without looking?
  16. This twitter post today says it all. Mitchell Schwartz was asked if he gave Mahomes Hall of Fame speech what’s the first thing he would say. Mitchell Schwartz @MitchSchwartz71 · 1h That the night @PatrickMahomes won MVP he responded to my text saying congrats within a few minutes. Can’t imagine how busy he was and how much his phone was getting blown up, didn’t expect any response but it just shows what kind of guy he is.
  17. Losing Big 12 Tourney and the Draft in one year would have been an absolute dagger.
  18. I’ll say it. We don’t win the Super Bowl without him. The guy is just a different player in the playoffs. I just question his motivation and effort most of the rest of the time. I see him as a luxury item we can’t afford anymore. Sign a stop gap veteran and I think we will get as much production. And give Hardman a bigger role. I’ll add I also trust Veach so I’m not complaining about anything he does this season outside of trading Mahomes.
  19. Only 14 million for a guy who produced 3 TDs. What a bargain!
  20. Hey we were 9-0 after Ogbah got hurt. 6-0 after losing both he and Okafor although we did quickly get Suggs. Veach seems to know how to replace these types.
  21. If we cut Okafor and sign Ogbah to the same contract he just got then we are on the hook for 10M cap hit. This way we pay less AND get a comp pick.
  22. Fuller and Ogbah already have netted us likely a 3rd/4th and 7th round comp pick. Breeland would get us another 3rd if we don’t resign. Robinson could be next. I’m sure we will sign someone to impact formula or resign Breeland. but I think Veach could be in accumulating picks mode. As for Fuller, I like his versatility and age. But he was never consistent here and was acquired to play in the old scheme.
