  1. Yes. Veach wants to be CAP flexible as he is now so that if an opportunity to get a high level talent is there, he can do it. This isn't hard.
  2. PFF 2018 Top 25 cornerbacks 8. PATRICK PETERSON, ARIZONA CARDINALS While the rest of the Arizona defense crumbled around him, Peterson continued his elite play. He allowed 30 catches all season long. That’s fewer than two per game. His 0.63 yards allowed per coverage snap was the lowest in the league.
  3. He's not going to see that money until after the new CBA in 2021. So getting an elite corner with two very club controlled and managable years left on his contract is not a big issue here at all. Its the reason we could offer 1 year, 11 million for Earl Thomas. Nearly every contract Veach has signed is with the idea of giving the club flexibility after 2 years. The compensation and willingness of the Cardinals to make a move is the issue. Plain and simple.
  4. I hope the end game for Veach is Patrick Peterson. Obviously at our price which makes it dicey. He should be trying all means for competitive depth there for now.
  5. Agree. This is by far the weakest position on the team. If I'm Veach I don't stop looking at all options all the way through the trade deadline. And agree about backup TE!
  6. Agree. I'm never going to get super excited about any signing like this but the guy was a top ten draft pick and played well last year. The 4 game suspension actually works for us in getting him below veteran minimum threshold. Hes got a month now to learn the system and then can start playing in October. Checked to see if he played with the Honey Badger at LSU and indeed he did. In fact that 2011 LSU roster is one of the best I've ever seen in college football. They just had no QB.
  7. Chiefs have fortified the cornerback group with the free agent signing of Mo Claiborne, league source confirms. He'll be available after serving a four-game suspension to start the season. He was actually 6th in the NFL in passer rating when targeted and had the 7th most running stops so he appears to be a physical player. Nov 18, 2018 PFF #Jets Morris Claiborne has been one of the top corner backs in the NFL so far this season! #GangGreen. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nflmocks.com/2019/05/26/kansas-city-chiefs-morris-claiborne/amp/
  8. I think it was both Sutton and the leg personally. Also remember towards the end of the 2017 season when we were 6-6 and had just suspended Marcus Peters, Sutton said he simplified the scheme. It worked big time too as they were stellar even without Peters that one week until Chris Jones went down in the playoff game. So maybe he and Hitchens just need to be turned loose with an aggressive hit the gaps hard mentality.
  9. Interesting that any signings after tomorrow don’t count vs comp pick formula. Article also suggests we are in line for a 4th round comp pick. I agree with KK we’ve still got to be in the market for a cheap WR and/or TE fit in FA I’m still holding out hope we can make a trade for a corner. Obviously Collins would bring much needed versatility to our LB group with so little. But has anyone reported any real contract with him?
  10. The people who evaluate film that I really trust were pretty much in agreement that video showed Clark was an even player than they thought. He can do it all.
  11. Terez A. Paylor‏Verified account @TerezPaylor 2m2 minutes ago More Terez A. Paylor Retweeted Charles Robinson Per a source, I’m told Houston reached out to KC about Clowney prior to the Frank Clark trade, but the Chiefs were locked in on Clark - their No. 1 guy.
  12. Hey it was probably a Chargers fan that probably leaked the Kareem Hunt video so who knows for sure. I’ve just lived in this county a long time and know how they roll. They want to nail someone for the fines or court costs alone. Feeds the machine.
  13. The Johnson County DA could care less about the NFL draft. Then again maybe he's a season ticket holder. LOL. I know this county well and all they care about is money.
  14. Its a good point about Goodell pretty much being able to do whatever he wants right now. But they did have text messages between the equipment manager and a locker room attendant which obviously implicated Brady. And we've clearly established breaking the law doesn't mean anything. The NFL drug rules aren't necessary illegal drugs but make up 95 percent of the penalties. In any case texts between two other parties is indeed circumstancial though. Of course we all know he was without question guilty. Then again after reading many other QBs comment on this, it really wasn't unusual.
  15. You forgot that part where he adds “But we will need to swap third rounders with you and move up 8 spots.”
  16. Great question and your right circumstantial could apply here as well. The difference is you had an accuser who was adamant two separate incidents of battery happened. It became a he said, she said thing and police just didn’t think they had enough on him to prosecute. But the NFL after a year long investigation decided to believe her story. “The investigators looked at photographs, police records, and text messages. Two medical experts consulted by the league determined that a series of photographs of the woman’s injuries “appear recent and consistent” to her statements.” So you have an accuser, we know exactly what she’s claiming and then as far as the NFL is concerned enough evidence to back up her claim. Still I’d agree this is a classic Goodell overstep of powers only this one was upheld by the courts. And part of that was because much like Kareem Hunt several other separate incidents arose with they called a “pattern.” In Tyreeks case as far as I know, all the league has are those two basic police reports which offer next to nothing other than an injured kid and a few people of interest. We have no idea when this injury occurred or who specifically is to blame or who even there at the time considering Tyreek wasn’t even listed on the second report.. There’s just nothing to go on minus the kids testimony which won’t ever happen any more than Family Court records being released minus some TMZ like payments to the right person. Still who knows if Goodell would take the next step in the abuse of his power and levy the 6 game personal conduct penalty anyway. I’d assume a lawsuit filed by the NFLPA if he did. Finally my opinions are based on everything reported to date. If further info comes to light the situation could obviously change. In the end if players don’t do dump sh*t or affiliate themselves with people that do, they can avoid this mess. I don’t need or expect a roster full of choir boys and I’ve got no qualms about giving people second chances especially when your talking about guys like Hill and Clark who made horrible judgements when they were essentially kids in college. But if you cant keep your name out off the police blotter while being paid millions to play a kids game, you kind of get what you deserve. Fair or not. A generalization for sure that doesn’t apply to every situation but more a plea for these guys to respect their talent and lot in life.
  17. Jamal was really lucky it was Tagliabue running the league and not Goodell or he may never have seen the field. Most people don’t seem to realize Article 46 has existed for quite some time, it’s just never been pressed to its limits like Goodell has.
  18. It would be completely unprecedented for the league to suspend a player on nothing but circumstantial evidence. Because the Freedom of Information Act does not apply to family court it sure seems like the league has been stonewalled of any real facts. It’s unlikely they even know if Tyreek was in the house when the kids injury occurred. That said Article 46 gives Goodell unbelievable powers and unlike his predecessor he’s shown himself consistently willing to press those boundaries. In several cases to the point he was challenged and lost in Federal Court. But he’s clearly has the thought process of a dictator who can apply this rule to anyone, anytime. As it pertains to Tyreek though he’s never had an issue since entering the league. There were absolutely no charges filed here and again as of right now I have a hard to believing anyone knows much of anything. And maybe Tyreek is lucky in that way. Hard to say.
  19. Just saw several videos posted of Clark lining up inside and just destroying a guard. Also saw him pancake two different tackles. This guy is strong.
  20. Nate Taylor .Since the combine, the Chiefs have coveted Frank Clark. They believe Clark is a star who could someday be the NFL’s defensive player of the year.
  21. This has a decent chance of developing into one of the best Chiefs defensive line groups in decades. Lots of depth and still one one of the younger groups in the league too. Desperately need another corner still. And then next year go get a dynamic versatile LB. Safety still a concern as well but we do have answers and added an elite guy. Over 50 percent of this defense will likely be different from the AFC Title game to Opening Day in September. As one of the Chiefs beat writers tweeted out "Veach means business with trying to fix this defense."
  22. Bingo. Look there's definitive risk but Brett Veach has proven over the past two offseasons he's not going to waste money on players or characters that don't fit our overall plan. But he will with players he believes will and live with being on the firing line. I love it. And again if his moves don't work and we fall flat on our face we know where to turn. No more riding the fence post. Its Super Bowl or bust certainly over the next 3 years.
  23. To clarify we traded whichever 2nd round pick is worse next year.
