  1. Wait a minute. Your suggesting based on a week of training camp as the starter that we are supposed to be changing opinions on Mahomes potential? That’s just batshit crazy dude. Get back to me in a few years.
  2. Devils advocate with what? That Mahomes isn’t going to be a good QB based on what he’s doing as a 22 year old on August 1st. Because that’s just pure stupidity. Or Devils Advocate that there are going to be growing pains associated with developing a 22 year old. Because I doubt anyone would argue that point with you to begin with.
  3. Heard comments today on the radio that they had never seen a Chiefs training camp where we air it out this much. I’ll be ugly at times as with one of the INTs today where Mahomes admitted the play he called he thought was something different. So none of the WRs went we he thought they would. That type of stuffs gonna happen. But it’s gonna be fun knowing our guy can push the ball to every level and make big plays happen at any time. I’m excited.
  4. Those people would be morons that don’t understand football at all.
  5. They are in the DNA of all 22 year old QBs. Plus consider Andy is going to pull the reigns off a guy who can make big plays that our last QB could not. We are going from the definition of conservative QB to the polar opposite on the spectrum. It's really not the difficult to understand. The days of losing playoff games because our QB ran scared the entire second half is over. But in the short term we are likely going to have to make regular season sacrifices to get there. Sure worked out well for the Colts and Packers. I think we've got that caliber of talent. Im gonna enjoy the ride, training camp INTs and all.
  6. We scored a grand total of 6 points in our last two playoff games in the second half. I don't think that happens to a Mahomes offense. Maybe may lose a few especially early because of mistakes, but its not going to be because we left plays on the field. That's a dagger of a way to go out in a survive and advance format. Playing not to lose or trying to avoid mistakes at all costs is not the way to win in January.
  7. Last years defense was bad but also was able to hold 5 of our last 6 opponents leading up to the division title clincher to 16 points or less. Once Bob Sutton figures out what he has, he knows how to finesse a decent scoring defense that keeps his teams out of constant scorefests. Minus key injuries I’d expect similar with more playmaking ability again. And personally I think just the opposite that Andy wants to keep his young QB in as many manageable pass situations as possible Those Vermiel defenses were poorly coached and largely talentless in my opinion.
  8. If KPass starts to make a real move forward, we could really have something! BJ Kissel ✔@ChiefsReporter And for @Passinyo, who is now a 3-4 OLB after playing DL in college, this play is an impressive display of athleticism for the 6-foot-7, 289-pounder. He also dropped in coverage and picked one off yesterday. Been a standout at camp so far. 3:13 PM - Jul 30, 2018
  9. We didn't lose these last two games because of play calling. We lost because the QB made bad decisions at crucial times. The Steelers game who can forget Tyreek streaking wide open and going completely unnoticed. This happened twice actually. Last year Alex was in the RPO and made bad decisions and/or panicked with ghost pressure into leaving pocket early. Find a QB thats looking to make plays and we probably win both games. Plain and simple.
  10. The other side of that is enticing teams into stacking the box by committing to the run. I think there's a reason we signed 2 RBs into the potential rotation in the offseason. And our OC is a former running back. Having a physicallity to our play can only help take pressure off Pat. The last situation you want a very young QB in is trying to convert 3rd and longs all day. We need to set the terms.
  11. Yup. We’ve got our guy for the first time in decades and this time around a proven coach who knows what to do with him. This is the best formula for winning Lombardi’s. Whether we have to endure Peyton Manning or Brett Favre type of INT issues or not. Again it’s the smart fans that know there’s a process to this and everybody is different in terms of the learning curve. That said we’ve got elite weapons and a proven coach that will let likely streamline this process and make us formidable earlier rather than later.
  12. VERY true. What I know about today’s practice was that it was raining. Gotta believe that always favors defense.
  13. That’s a lot based on what? Either way developing your own elite franchise QB isn’t for the faint of heart or certainly bandwagon fan. It’s people that recognize realistic ceiling for him and franchise that are most excited.
  14. A positive mention for both of our young OLBs is a little encouraging. As was touch pass by Mahomes.
  15. Price of admission for developing a young QB with a cannon arm and gunslinger mentality would be my answer. However I'm looking at today's stats and see 22 attempts and 1 INT. Am I missing something? Pads go on tomorrow and I expect the mistakes will uptick as well. I can see a guy who has some real struggles at times, but as long as he's mentailly strong and keeps competing we will be in good shape. Love to hear Kissel below describe a guy who can 'attack every level of defense." That's new around here. BJ Kissel CHIEFS REPORTER The Kansas City Chiefs took the field Friday morning for the second day of training camp. Here’s what you need to know: 1. Patrick Mahomes gave us the entire experience once again There are two things that have stood out about Patrick Mahomes’ first two days of training camp. First, there’s no doubting his natural ability, and not that it hasn’t already been discussed all the time of him going back to his days of tossing it around back in Tyler, Texas, it’s still important to always mention that he’s doing things with his arm talent that aren’t normal—even by NFL quarterback standards. On Friday morning, Mahomes had a few hookups deep down the field to Tyreek Hill that had the crowd cheering, and there were some intermediate routes mixed in there as well that showed his ability to attack every level of the defense.
  16. Conley healthy and with firm grasp on the number three WR role.
  17. Hard to pinpoint. He "strained" it sometime during OTAs in May and hasn't practiced much since. There seems to be no concern from Andy Reid so maybe its just a matter of giving it all the rest they can this early in camp. I believe he only participated in individual drills today.
  18. More radio news I heard today. Kareem Hunt continues to be very limited with the hamstring injury which he was dealing with most of the offseason. Maybe just precautionary as again it is only July. But again something to watch. Chris Jones is practicing at 260 pounds. Down from 285 last year. His self promoted goal "to lead the league in sacks."
  19. Every single season they get decimated by injuries. Maybe they need rethink their offseason conditioning program or something? On the other hand just keep doing what their doing. Neither of these are daggers but its early to already lose two starters.
  20. Predictably Mahomes has struggled early with some of the underneath stuff Alex excelled at especially the seam throw to the tight end. Some decision making bur overthrows mainly. Same thing he did vs Denver. Something to watch in preseason. This coming from Sportstadio 810 commentary from Grunhard today and Ketzmans show yesterday. Grunny said Henne actually has looked good early as backups go. Finally backup oline has been shredded during blitz drill this morning lamenting obvious need for starters to stay healthy. Maybe more than most years without Fulton now. From today's practice....Amerson picked up his first interception of training camp, killing a two-minute drill by the No. 1 offense. Mahomes stepped up in the pocket looking for Travis Kelce as his outlet short right. But he never saw Amerson underneath who jumped the route for the easy turnover.
  21. ✔@bepryor Three rookies are all a part of the first team defense rotation: Breeland Speaks, Derrick Nnadi and Dorian O’Daniel
  22. Long term yes. He needs to be on the field. Short term reality is if we are counting on a mid round rookie to play any prominent role as a starter, we are in trouble. Perhaps most on point is that it’s still July.
  23. Health of Morse and Ford are both vital in my opinion. Fact they are both a full go is encouraging.
  24. This is probably close but if Mahomes is struggling picking up on some concepts I think Andy will continue to send him back out there wheras there was no need with Alex. But also consider you have to have your backup ready to go in this league and with two new guys they are going to need REPS too. Its ironic though. The first team offense we send out there will be younger at the skill positions than the backups.
  25. Agree. Alex is taking more good risks with the ball and still is elite at avoiding bad risks. He seems be keeping his head downfield when he gets outside of the pocket and trusting receivers more. Bad thing is if Oline doesn't improve or get healthy fast, our QB won't be healthy long.
