And, this all at a time when DBs could pretty much rape the receivers. Yeah, Jerry Rice, blah, blah, blah. Was there ever a more perfect system fit receiver and system fit QB paired up? Owens had 3 years of Steve Young throwing to him (while playing second fiddle to Rice) and then 5 years of Jeff Garcia before being traded to Philly. Garcia would have washed out of the league by year 2 without Owens. It was a travesty that he had to wait because of off field issues. Almost as much as a true cancer like Randy Moss not having to. He wasn’t close to the complete receiver that TO was. He just outran everyone.

Certain positions I prefer the proven commodity. LT is one of them. KC always picks low and LTs with elite "potential" are usually gone by then. Trading major capital move up into the top 10 to draft one is a huge gamble. You could end up with Willie Roaf, or Trezelle Jenkins. Pay the man. 20MM per will look like a bargain 3 years from now.

Thuney is not elite at LT either. Definitely not over a full season. You don’t want to pay Brown because he is the 28th ranked tackle (he is better than his ranking, btw). But, you are fine taking an elite guard, making elite guard money, and moving him to LT. Yeah, I am sure that was Veach’s plan all along. JMO 🙄
