I just read that Veach and Reid gave Mahomes this pick. According to the article, they asked Mahomes who he wanted. This was his choice.

I was hoping for defense in the first round, but the more I read about this guy the more I like him. Looks like a real asset who will fit perfectly in this offense.

Yeah, he was a bust at RB but the Raiders picked him up and made him a pretty good TE.

To be fair, every team had Blackledge rated higher than every other QB in the draft except for Elway.
Marino had injury issues that caused him to fall.
After Elway was gone, any team would have picked Blackledge over who was left.
It was our bad luck to have a higher pick than Miami or NY.

JT Smith.
One of the best punt returners and WRs in KC history and cut for no good reason. He went to the Cards and did so well and became such a fan favorite that one year, when he didn't make the Pro Bowl, though had a Pro Bowl season, the Cards fans bought him a ticket to Hawaii for the game.

LOVED me some Dino.
Saw him in a preseason game 1989. First game of preseason and Dino played like it was the Super Bowl. He had one speed: wide open.
He was felled by an inner ear infection, of all things. If he had lasted a few more years, he would be in the Ring of Honor.

Excellent article with a lot of great points. Like Biggliv4, I was unsure about Spags, even though I knew he would be an upgrade, I thought he was one of those guys who almost gets there and fails to deliver. I'm happy to have been dead wrong.

Agreed. I read somewhere that Veach wants to sign Jones before he does a deal with Mahomes.

Yeah, the left side of the line collapsed on almost every pass play. The O-line has got to be top priority this offseason.

Magic's contract was set at 25 years so he would remain a Laker the rest of his career. He could retire at any time, but he still got paid as if he was still playing.

Odd. I had that same thought this week.
He wants to win, so he knows he needs the players around him to make that happen consistently. Those players cost $$$.
The wildcard is his agent. He'll certainly go for the largest contract possible with no regard for the team.
