jetlord 10,210
Maybe they can repeat the season opener of two years ago?
Mloe68 1,521
I’ve got no doubt we are going to be on in prime time the maximum number of games possible. Opening in NE makes sense.
sith13 1,746
Best possible scenario for us IMO. We were already scheduled to play them on the road and they seem to be better towards late in the season. We get a few extra days of rest after the first week which isn't that necessary but still a plus. I'm fine with the scheduling as long as we don't get any Thursday games during the season and don't get the bye week too early.
Docbarnabee 225
Season opener is a Thursday night game. That could be an advantage as it gives us 10 days to prepare for next opponent and without the disadvantages of a short week after a Sunday game. Joe_Chief 1,092
I read that the NFL has not decided on an opponent for the opener, but that the Chiefs may be one of only a couple to choose from to pull in big ratings. I will be interested to see the schedule when it is announced in April.
kkuenn 3,613
Also if we get picked for this the two teams get to start a week earlier for training camp than everyone else.
xen 1,010,220
Well this superbowl just made the KC @ NE game much more likely as the opener. NFL will want an exciting opener. Agree with those that said they'd rather play at NE early. Superbowl was a Super Snoozefest
Pitbulljim 2
I agree that the Chiefs will be playing on opening night, this might be an advantage for the Chiefs with a different defensive scheme and players.
dksww 484
We won't know until April, but Chiefs @ Pats for the season opener would be my guess as well.

They tend to put the Super Bowl winner as the first game. Trophy presentation and all that. I could see em making the Packers/Bears game a Sunday night game though. robgar 1,046
good bet for the hall of fame game... and generally the superbowl winners kick off the season.... Everyone will want to start off the season with a bang.. I would love to see KC play the first game of the preseason, and of the season..
robgar 1,046
btw, its the hall of fame game, teams, that start practice early, and get 5 preseason games..
xen 1,010,220
NFL talking about wanting to do something different for the season opener this year due to the 100 year anniversary. Bears celebrating 100 year anniversary as well so that's why they're considering Bears v Packers. Talk is they'll maybe put Pat's on Sunday night instead. No decisions yet. sith13 1,746
Even if they move it to Sunday I would still love to get the Pats to being the season. Get it out of the way when they are the weakest and less focused due to all the festivities.
