thanks for postin that..certainly  gave the impression the 4-3 will be seriously looked at with the skills that  Hitchen, ODaniel etc have

I really liked the fact he said Spags is basically locked up in a room by himself watching game film and evaluating talent. I really thought we needed someone from outside of the organization to look at this defense without any prior preconcieved notions.  Also sounded like we may again look to add a legit piece or two in free agency.

Didn't say no to bringing Kareem Hunt back.

I know it's a long shot to think, but it does make a lot of sense.

If he goes through all the treatments the NFL has set forth for him AND were to be re-instated, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back with the Chiefs.

A long shot, but I wouldn't be surprised.

This says that we are going to a 4-3 defense.

Adam TeicherESPN Staff Writer

Brett Veach said the Chiefs would indeed be moving to a 4-3 as their base defense with the hiring of Steve Spagnuolo as their coordinator. He indicated the Chiefs had many players who fit comfortably into the new scheme, citing Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Breeland Speaks, Justin Houston and Dee Ford as examples. "One of the things we wanted to do was bring in guys that were versatile and could do different things,'' Veach said. "Now, certainly going from a 3-4 to probably more of a 4-3 defense these guys will obviously still fit into that role.''bb

Dee Ford is going to be back. “We’re excited about bringing him back,” Veach said. And then added Dee Ford as a guy who fits comfortably into the new scheme. Less commital with Justin Houston. He didn't really tip his hand elswhere with any other free agents though.

I just don't see how this happens after he lied to the organization on top of the PR headache. I think they are trying to help the man, but he ends up elsewhere. He's also still facing a signficant suspension in 2019. Plus he's probably going to get a significantly better contract than he had with us even with the pending suspension. But you are right, he didn't rule it out.

And Berry is in Green Bay having a specialist look at his foot with no decision as of yet on whether to have surgery or not. Veach spoke about Berry's "competitiveness" but like Houston was very non committal on his future.

Regarding Berry,  he said towards the end of the year when answering questions that it was complicated on what is going on.

Just makes me think their is more to this than just his heel and whether to have surgery or not.   Should be an easy decision but it's not shaping up like that.

He said he was looking forward to him being out there healthy and being a leader on our defense.

So listening to the interview in its entirety 2 things infuriate me.

1. Its clear veach punted on this year not realizing how good the team would be, which amazes me because he loved mahomes and it was clear he would be an upgrade over alex smith year one.

if he would have drafted and aquired free agents to play in a 3-4 this year we would likely be superbowl champs. Conversely if he was intent on moving to a 4-3 should have fired sutton before the season.

2. He referenced how they have a great trainer and they are coming up with the best plan to deal with berry. Its clear our lead trainer sucks and should have been replaced years ago.

On the plus i am glad we have veach instead of dorsey, and i would be in favor of bringing Kareem Hunt back

In the unlikely event that the Chiefs brought back Hunt, would he be able to negotiate a new contract or would the Chiefs still have him on a rookie contract for 2020?  I'm assuming he would negotiate and if the league penalties aren't too onerous, he will get a good contract.  He actually comes out ahead financially by getting a contract for his third year and beyond.

Agree with #2. No idea how you came to the first conclusion. He may be the GM, but sutton staying was Reids call. How did they punt on this year? Signing Watkins for 3 yrs at 16 million per doesnt exactly scream "were playing the long game".

I'm so damn happy we have Watkins for the long run let me tell you. He's a weapon man, just as good as Hill/Kelce.

I'm not being sarcastic either we really need this guy. Hill ain't all that he got shut down in the AFC championship. That's unacceptable

I would be in favor of having Hunt back. To me he is a Chief. Probably will not happen though.

Kinda getting a little excited about Spags whereas I was cool on the hire at first. We shall see.

I'm gonna be at the NFL draft this year and I can't wait!!!

Acceptable because it is what BB did the entire game was to bracket him. Now if Reid adjusted he could have been open but he used hokey then as more if a decoy which opened up others. They have to pick their poison with this offense. We need a good 2nd Te and it will be impossible to stop especially if Hunt ever did come back

I wholeheartedly agree Hunt put this offense in a true Juggernaut

Hill is all that.   An elite top 5 WR who just had the best single season in the history of the franchise at only 24 years old.  A good coach can limit any single player if he’s willing to leave openings elsewhere. Williams and Watkins were beneficiaries of so much attention to Tyreek.  All that said I agree I’m happy and more importantly I’m sure our QB is happy to have him.

I agree absolutely.   With Sammy in the game,  defenders have a really tough problem who to doubleteam.   Sammy is being used in the intermediate routes.  But he is more than qualified to go deep and he has great hands.   I also think Williams can be a weapon in the passing game.   If you wonder what Watkins brings to the Offense,   look how limited they were when they had to use Conley.

I'm not interested in the stats the fact of the matter is he got shutdown. Yes he's a top 5 WR, which makes it unacceptable
