2019 NFL Draft – Round 1

1 – Oakland – from Arizona – Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma

This is something that I can definitely see Gruden doing.  Can Mayock stop him?  Haha.  They trade picks 4, 24, and 27 to draft Murray.

2 - San Francisco – Nick Bosa EDGE Ohio St

Lynch will gladly take the best pass rusher in the draft.

3 - New York Jets – Josh Allen EDGE Kentucky

They lacked at the position last year.  Allen is an immediate upgrade.

4 – Arizona – from Oakland – Quinnen Williams DT Alabama

Zona can go BPA here and get maybe the most talented player in the draft.

5 - Tampa Bay – Montez Sweat EDGE Mississippi St

They could go oline here, but pass rush is a need as well.

6 - New York Giants – Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio St

The Giants finally roll the dice on a QB.  Haskins can compete with Manning.

7 - Jacksonville – DK Metcalf WR Ole Miss

Foles is pretty much signed when FA starts.  They have to get him some weapons.

8 - Detroit – Devin White LB LSU

They have to get a QB on defense.  White is a day one starter.

9 - Buffalo – Jawaan Taylor OT Florida

Doesn’t matter how big Josh Allen is, if they don’t give him some protection, he is going to get killed.

10 - Denver – Drew Lock QB Missouri

Elway throws a dart again.  Lock is raw, and may be a year or two away, if ever.

11 - Cincinnati – TJ Hockenson TE Iowa

Eifert is a glass doll.

12 - Green Bay – Clelin Ferrell EDGE Clemson

The Pack has to improve on getting to the QB.

13 - Miami – Ed Oliver DT Houston

They never replaced Suh last year, and suffered for it.

14 - Atlanta - Rashan Gary DE/DT Michigan

Atlanta can use help pretty much everywhere on their D.  They are happy Gary slid to them.

15 - Washington – Daniel Jones QB Duke

The Skins pretty much have to reach here.

16 - Carolina – Greg Little OT Ole Miss

Newton sucks.  But, they still have to protect him, I guess.

17 - Cleveland – Christian Wilkins DT Clemson

Disruptive tackle who is a perfect fit here.

18 - Minnesota – Jonah Williams OT Alabama

Cousins needs more time to properly choke away a lead.

19 - Tennessee – Cody Ford G/T Oklahoma

They have to upgrade the interior unless they want Mariota to get sacked 11 times in a game again.

20 – Pittsburgh – AJ Brown WR Ole Miss

AB won’t return and Washington can’t be counted on to fill the void.

21 – Seattle – Brian Burns EDGE Florida St

They tagged Clark, but they still need another guy.

22 – Baltimore – Jonathon Abram S Mississippi St

They cut Weddle.

23 – Houston – Greedy Williams CB LSU

They got torched a lot last year.  Jackson is a FA, and they cut Johnson.

24 – Arizona – from Oakland - from Chicago – Marquis Brown WR Oklahoma

Fitz, Kirk, and Brown should give Rosen a lot of options.

25 – Philadelphia – Devin Bush LB Michigan

Bush fills a need, as they were soft at the position last year.

26 – Indianapolis – Byron Murphy CB Washington

I believe that with Indy’s cap room they will upgrade the pass rush via trade/FA.  They can fill another need at this pick.

27 – Arizona - from Oakland – from Dallas – Garrett Bradbury G/C NC State

Rosen ran for his life all year.

28 - Los Angeles Chargers – Dexter Lawrence DT Clemson

The Bolts need an upgrade in the interior.  Lawrence is a mammoth who is adept at stopping the run and adds some pass rush.

29 - Kansas City – Rock Ya-Sin CB Temple

Ya-Sin is raw, but the ceiling exceeds any other Corner in the draft.

30 - Green Bay - from New Orleans – Noah Fant TE Iowa

Graham is about cooked.

31 - Los Angeles Rams – Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi St

They will take a chance on Simmons.  Suh is unlikely to return.

32 - New England – Jachai Polite EDGE Florida

Belichick has never shied away from taking a chance on red flag players.  He will bet on Polite’s talent here.

Too early for Rock Ya-Sin.  The Chiefs need an instant starter at CB and Baker or Cullen seem more ready.  Ya-Sin might go in the second round.

I agree.  Overall a really good mock from SEMO.

I think Rock Ya-Sin is about a good round too early and I'd have Fant going much higher but outside of that I think it looked good.

Anyone who plays with that much effort and tests as well as he did is gonna be popular this time of year. Maybe a poor mans Clay Matthews. 🤔

It really just comes to how fast they fly off the board.  Even with the deeper class, there's still more more need than supply and it can easily shake up the draft.

I have been saying for awhile that Winovich could sneak into the first round.  High motor, with talent.

But, I have seen where teams have some issues with his personality and how well he can fit into an NFL locker room.  Whatever that means.

Meh.  I personally think that's someone floating bull to see if it drops him.

Gary I think may go a lot lower than all these top 10 projections on the webs.  The lack of production is disturbing.

Winovich is the better pro.

I like the idea of getting 2 picks but Atlanta picking a CB with our pick would be a tough pill to swallow and I doubt Veach would go for it. Some other team using our pick to fix a need that we also have would be a major question mark.

Meh the quality of cb you can get at 45 is about the same as at 29.

I don't know Baker is seen more of day one starter. If they can get 2 starters giving up the #29 that would be awesome but in case of a problem at CB it would look bad on Veach giving up the pick.

I'm still not certain about this season. Are we going for a SB right away or building for 2020? That has a major input on the way we'll draft.

I think it would be a braindead decision to do anything but go for it all right now.  Once you get the trophy, you can start to reshape the roster in the big money QB era and the fans will be content.

Baker would be ideal of the Chiefs weren't planning to man to man.  A bit of a surprise, but that's what they'll be doing.

The drop off at CB isn't all that great IMHO.  If the Chiefs don't get Williams, Baker, or Murphy, the choices later are okay.  Ya-Sin, Oruwariye, Layne, and several others all have statrter possibilities.

If we can land Ya-Sin I would be all for it as it would be similar to the Chris Jones pick, he has been rising up in the mocks but hopefully the staff will have a good estimation of where he'll end up. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go in 1st though.

CBs may be flying off the boards, but I think the Chiefs can probably wait until the late 2nd and still get a good one.  It seems that three are projected to go in the first round and after that, the predictions are all over the place with some gurus prediction a CB to go early in the second and others predicting the same one to go late in the third.  I like Ya-Sin as well, but don't see him going in the first round.

Yeah I'm not sure either.  I would think early 2nd at the latest but it depends on where the top 3 go.  I think 2nd through 3rd round is the sweet spot for corners in this draft.  Not a top heavy class but some nice scheme specific depth.

Final round 1

1 - Arizona – Nick Bosa Edge Ohio St

Murray isn’t worth the top pick.  If AZ can’t trade down, they will go with Bosa.

2 - San Francisco – Quinnen Williams DT Alabama

The 49ers upgrade the trenches with the BPA.

3 - New York Jets – Ed Oliver DT Houston

The NYJ try to trade down, but find no takers.  They covet Oliver anyway.

4 - Oakland – Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma

Gruden gets his guy without having to trade up.

5 - Tampa Bay – Devin White LB LSU

Tampa gets the BPA left on their board.

6 - New York Giants – Jawaan Taylor OT Florida

They have to protect whoever is under center.

7 - Jacksonville – Josh Allen EDGE Kentucky

With Taylor off the board, they beef up the pass rush.

8 - Detroit – Devin Bush LB Michigan

They bring in an athletic LB to pair with Davis.

9 - Atlanta (from Buffalo) – Christian Wilkins DT Clemson

Oliver went too high for Atlanta to reach.  They have to fix the Dline.  They trade their 1st and a 3rd to get Wilkins.

10 - Denver – Drew Lock QB Missouri

Unibrow is just a stop gap.

11 - Cincinnati – TJ Hockenson TE Iowa

They could go QB, but can’t pass on Hockenson’s talent.

12 - New York Giants (from Green Bay) – Daniel Jones QB Duke

NYG trades 17 and a 2020 2nd round pick to Green Bay to select Jones.

13 - Miami – Brian Burns EDGE Florida St

Haskins is in play here also.  They need pass rush help.

14 - Buffalo (from Atlanta) – Jonah Williams OT Alabama

They have to protect Allen if they want him to develop.

15 - Washington – Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio St

Keenum is trash.  Haskins could start day one.

16 - Carolina – Andre Dillard OT Washington St

Newton is getting killed, and his shoulder might be beyond repair.

17 - Green Bay (from New York Giants - from Cleveland) – Noah Fant TE Iowa

Rogers needs some NFL caliber pass catchers.

18 - Minnesota – Cody Ford OT/OG Oklahoma

Ford is versatile.  Wherever he plays should increase Cousins’ life expectancy.

19 - Tennessee – Clelin Ferrell EDGE Clemson

They really need Oline help, but all the value, other than Bradbury, is gone.  Ferrell will be a major upgrade to their pass rush.

20 - Pittsburgh – Byron Murphy CB Washington

This pick could go to a receiver, but they will upgrade the secondary.  Nelson will wear out his welcome quickly.

21 - Oakland (from Seattle) – Josh Jacobs RB Alabama

If they want Jacobs, who they are supposedly high on, they will have to get ahead of Balt and Philly.  They give up 24 and a 4th to move up.

22 - Baltimore – DK Metcalf WR Ole Miss

They need someone for Jackson to get the ball in the general vicinity of.

23 - Houston – Greedy Williams CB LSU

Other than Roby, they really don’t have anyone.

24 - Seattle (from Oakland - from Chicago) – Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi St

Seattle is just the team to wait on Simmons.  Red flags are not a concern for them.

25 - Philadelphia – Nasir Adderley S Delaware

This is pretty much a luxury pick.  Rumors are some teams like him at corner.

26 - Indianapolis – Marquis Brown WR Oklahoma

Brown immediately makes this team more dangerous.  Hilton is banged up a lot and Funchess is hit or miss.

27 - Oakland (from Dallas) – Chase Winovich EDGE Michigan

Someone is going to draft this guy where he deserves to be drafted.

28 - Los Angeles Chargers – Jerry Tillery DT Notre Dame

Could be a tackle or receiver here.  Reports are that Tillery’s shoulder is ahead of schedule.

29 - Kansas City – Amani Oruwariye CB Penn St

KC could trade up or down.  If they stay here, they might have to reach a bit for a corner.

30 - Green Bay (from New Orleans) – AJ Brown WR Ole Miss

Once again, Rogers needs some NFL caliber pass catchers.

31 - Los Angeles Rams – Rock Ya-Sin CB Temple

Talib ain’t getting any younger, or any more durable.

32 - New England – Rashan Gary DE/DT Michigan

Belichick is more than happy that Gary fell.  Just the type of versatility that he covets.
