Once again. Scrooge McMoon doesnt want them to spend. Long pattern here.

My thoughts here have nothing to do with money, and everything to do with keeping with the long term build as well as the short term.  If Williams is going to be a starter, why not draft a guy that can learn the blitz pickups for two years then turn it over?  I'm not against spending money, I'd just rather spend it on the secondary.  Besides, it's not like this guy is going to command a contract that's noteworthy.

Solid value signing by Veach who picked off a steal in Damien Williams last year with a deal like this. Veach added the below comment after announcing the signing

When you get into rounds 2 and 3, we have our eyes on a couple of [running backs],'' Veach said. "Certainly we'd be happy with a few guys.''

Even though he will be pricey I would still take a look at Malik Jackson as well.

When I posted this before in another topic I said the same thing. I would look at him and see. If we get Collins and add a DT/DE type it opens up our draft board really well. Resign our own and filling whole before the draft is always good. We can start developing then with picks but it seems they saw this last year and drafted for the 4-3.

Such a duo in FA would bring a lot of flexibility in the draft. CB would be the only immediate need

great value signing that has nfl experience. big back as well at 230.

Yes agree. Here is his 2017 Stats again. 59 receptions for 350 yards. I guess this guy Schefter did not look at Hydes career stats.

2017 SF 16 240 938 58.6 3.9 1 8 88 59 350 21.9 5.9 0

Chiefs signed Carlos Hyde to a one-year, $2.8 million contract.

Hyde visited with the Chiefs Saturday morning and was signed almost immediately. The $1.6 million he'll earn in guaranteed money is actually more than what 27-year-old starter Damien Williams will cost against the cap ($1.05 million) this upcoming season. Even so, this deal is tremendous news for Williams' fantasy outlook given Hyde's historical lack of involvement out of the backfield as a receiver — an ability Williams flashed with 24/210/3 receiving over Kansas City's final five games (playoffs included). This makes the fourth team Hyde has played for in the last 12 months.

Only difference is damien williams is a better back.

i relooked at hydes stats and he does indeed have a fumbling problem. I personally would rather have a back that aaveraged 1 yard per carry and never fumbled than a stud who fumbles every game. Not a fan of this signing

Hyde is likely the short yardage back-up. Yes he has some fumbles. If you take out the one really bad year its not significant. 10 total in 5 years. 4 were in 2016. 64 games and 827 touches.

This signing probably isn’t significant either way, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he fails to make the roster.

i guess my main point is i would rather just keep spencer ware, yes ware looks like a shell of himself, but as a third down back he never fumbles, is good at pass pro, and is an excellent receiver.

If the numbers are correct that's more than just a camp body. He's here to stay for the year.
