anyone know how he ranked last year?  GB fans seem to be upset over losing him.

Got a 58.5 overall PFF grade in VERY limited snaps last year as he returned from injury. Average overall. He did flash a really good game in week 14.

"No cornerback received a higher overall grade from Pro Football Focus in Week 14 than Bashaud Breeland of the Green Bay Packers.

According to a press release from PFF, Breeland played 24 snaps against the Atlanta Falcons and posted a 94.8 overall grade, the highest of his career. He was targeted five times, allowing just one catch, while also producing an interception return for a touchdown, a second pass breakup on third down and a passer rating against his coverage of 0.0."

Why we have fuller on the slot

Ward and Breeland on the outside, Fuller on the slot.

T. Smith and a draft pick or 2 for depth/potential starter depending on what round.

810 is saying Breeland's deal is 1 year $5 million.  Would have liked it to be for longer but it seems like 1 year deals are common now.

" The connection to (Antonio) Brown comes from the first week of the 2016 season and it’s not a feather in Breeland’s cap. Breeland was on Washington at the time and was charged with covering Brown for most of the night, which turned out well for the Steelers as Brown caught eight passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-16 win. Scandrick and Nelson had great rankings, that is all you need to know to decide, "who cares!"

Yep on paper both guys were 2 of the best in the NFL. Nelson did well at times but Scandrick was just awful all year long with a few exceptions towards the end of the season. Rankings are generally BS.

All players get beat, even the best get beat.

Hopefully that doesn't happen too often though.

Yeah, I remember Chad Ochocinco schooling Champ Bailey on MNF years ago and, although Chad was no slouch, Bailey was largely considered the top - if not one of the top - CB's in the league at that time.  If you're in the NFL for any length of time you're going to be beaten - likely on more than one occasion.

This isn't the case cracker that solves our secondary issues. He's generally a solid player that has upside and comes on a cheap incentive laden deal. The contract says it all. I'll add we signed David Amerson to almost identical contract last year and he turned out to be a huge bust and didn't make it to game one. But these types are hit or miss and worth the small investment again because there is upside.
