FANATIC 852
Chiefs signed K Harrison Butker to a five-year contract. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth "roughly" $20 million. Butker had been set to play on his exclusive rights free agent tag. Plucked off the Panthers' practice squad in Sept. 2017, Butker has made 90 percent of his field-goal attempts for the Chiefs. He has also drained 6-of-9 attempts from 50-plus yards. SOURCE: Field Yates on Twitter

kkuenn 3,613
Source: Chiefs, PK Butker reach $20M extension 2:50 PM MT Adam TeicherESPN Staff Writer KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Harrison Butker's first two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs were good enough to make him one of the highest-paid kickers in the NFL. The Chiefs and Butker agreed to terms of a five-year contract extension, he confirmed Thursday on Twitter. The deal is worth about $20 million, a source confirmed to ESPN, and the $4 million annual average on the extension would tie him for eighth among the league's highest-paid kickers. NFL Network was the first to report terms of the deal. View image on Twitter Harrison Butker ✔@buttkicker7 Proud to announce that I’ve signed an extension with the @Chiefs Thanks to the organization for their belief in me and thanks to all of Chiefs Kingdom for the love! Excited to be a part of this team for the next six years. #ForTheBrand #ChiefsKingdom #LetsRoll 1,471 2:02 PM - Jun 13, 2019 178 people are talking about this Twitter Ads info and privacy Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens is the highest-paid kicker at $5 million per year. Most of the other highest-paid kickers are, like Tucker, at least 30 years old. Butker won't turn 24 until July. But his first two NFL seasons have been good enough to put him among the NFL's best. Butker made a 43-yard field goal with four seconds left to beat the Washington Redskins in his 2017 debut and has been equally impressive ever since. Butker has made 62 of 69 field goal attempts since joining the Chiefs. His 90 percent success rate is ninth best in the league for kickers with at least 10 attempts. sith13 1,746
How can we extend a guy drafted in 2017? Doesn't he have at least another year before being eligible for a new contract, or doesn't it matter since we picked him up from PS?

So he is allowed to be extended since he was not drafted I believe.

Is there an exception to the guys drafted after a certain round or something? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Butker Edit: Never mind it says that he was cut back in Carolina before being signed to the PS. "It’s been a quick ascension for Butker: he was a seventh-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2017. But when he didn’t beat out veteran Graham Gano, the Panthers cut the Georgia Tech product and then re-signed him to the practice squad."
Thegoatee 1,786
So long as he stays mentally solid, we are in great shape. Certainly better than the clown shows at kicker in Chicago, Tampa, or San Diego in recent years when you fail to find a reliable guy.

Handswarmer 645
Alot of money for a guy who missed 4 extra points and had all his misses come from over 40 yds....

Not to bad to be at 90% roughly for kicking though. And when you attempt 69 extra points, you are bound to miss some now and then. Making 65 of them is pretty damn good position to be in. He still score 137 points last year and his misses were 2 against ravens at 51 and 43 yards but did kick the game winner in OT. Bengals where we won by 35 points at 53 yards. You can see there were quite a few teams ahead, like your team, that had misses too who missed 4 over 40 plus yards compared to 3 for us. Your kicker just signed a record contract too when he signed. It is the way of the times for players, could be worse and be like Chicago....so I think we will be fine with Butker. Ravens are giving kicker Justin Tucker a four-year, $23.05 million extension, including $12.5 million fully guaranteed in the first two years and an $8 million signing bonus, per source. All records for a kicker. Tucker tied to Baltimore through the 2023 season. Physically very talented but most importantly with kickers he’s mentally strong too. As you saw in the Ravens game he can forget about rare critical miss and deliver the next time. 90 percent FGs over two years. 6-9 over 50 yards. And like many guys on this team is really young and still developing. Oh and he’s really good at kickoffs as well. In a league replete with questionable kickers, Veach stole Buhtker and wisely wasn’t going to let him go. At 4 mil per season with club options nearly every year he’s barely in the top ten money wise.
