Defense- to quote Twain, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” Losing Suggs, Smith, won't hurt the pass rush. Losing CJ mosely at LB won't hurt the LB, Earl Thomas is a severe upgrade over Weddle. Our secondary is probably the best in the NFL. No worries about the defense. ST- have GOAT at kicker, top 5 punter and the LS is a a great one. All three have been together for 7 plus years. Wow! Looks like the Dirty Birds will go 19-0 this season. Mahomes will get done but he has another year still on rookie deal. We also can make cuts as needed, see Watkins, that woukd free up huge amounts too. I expect us to get a deal done after the 2020 season however I'm sure it will be structured so that it doesn't change his CAP hit in 2021 very much. We've got a three year window right now to win one or more Super Bowls before we will have to rework the roster around his big contract. How Veach drafts will be crucial to whether we are still a major contender in 2022. Also the new CBA could change some things and help us out there as well.
