Chris Jones buzz

I don’t know about trading him this week.  We don’t want a move like that to rattle te clubhouse.  Also he will be valuable down the stretch for us.  We can always tag and trade him in the offseason and a guy of his ability will command more than Dee Ford so we would get value back regardless.   If we are in it to win in this year picks won’t help us in January but Chris Jones will.   His injury might not be the defensive equivalent to Pat being injured but we get to see some young guys get some reps that could help us in making a tough decision in the offseason.

What about a pick + a player?

If there's thought about trading Jones in the offseason I would simply consider offers right now. Just add another pick to the mix and the price should be acceptable.

Disagree completely. You don't want to do anything to downgrade our roster right now. And that would do it. The Chiefs have all the leverage here with that tag after the season.

Not sure if it's a downgrade with the youngsters actually doing better against the run. There's still a difference between having Jones in town for the season and sending him sooner but the price difference should make that a meaningful decision otherwise it's just a waste of a few months of decent pass rush.

We were better vs Denver but certainly not Houston or Indy. In fact our complete lack of an inside pass rush in either game could have made the difference. Reality is Jones was graded out as our best player on defense by a wide margin until he got hurt. And since then its been Frank Clark the last two games. Get those two going together and keep developing Saunders and hope we get some real help from Mike Pennel in the running game and maybe we can have some real progress against better teams. Corners aren't great but playing better than most expected. Safeties have a chance to be top ten by the end of the year as Thornhill learns on the fly. LBs can't cover anything and will be a problem underneath all year against QBs and coordinators who know how to take advantage.
