Fire Toub because a kicker missed an extra point? Fire Toub because a long snapper snapped the ball to a punter who heard a phantom whistle?  Fire Toub because a kick was blocked?

Players have to execute. Plain and simple.

True. But coaches select and teach the players. When a coaching staff keeps DAT around and he is a liability, the coaches have to be held accountable. It is the sum total of the last three years that merits Toub’s exit. Today is just icing on the cake.

Pretty much all of the time the blame lies with the coaches. They decide on who goes on the field to do what. ST coaches always get the short end of the stick as they are entitled to a couple guys of their own and have to work with offensive or defensive players that consider ST an afterthought with a few exceptions. I think Toub has been dealt a terrible hand by Reid for the last couple years but still unless he can get it done with whatever Reid is giving him then what's the point of having him around? He used to be a great ST coach but doesn't seem to have coached up that mentality for a while.

If the Chiefs are relying on a special teams coaching change as a lynchpin to fixing this teams woes then we are reaching maximum denial capacity. This is a Defense run stoping problem. Everything that went the Chiefs way last week was repaid in full this week and it went around like a wheel. I hope they fix that issue first.

Should fire Andy Reid and Brett Veach too because they wanted DAT back on the roster too. Kickers don't kick to Hill anymore. Kickers are learning Hardman is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Opponents are doing everything to limit Chiefs playmakers on special teams. What is Toub supposed to do? Make opponents kick to Hill and Hardman?

Andy has major nepotism issues and is overly loyal. That is how the trash of Sutton was here way longer than he should have been and why Andy made the real daring hire of Spags. If Andy cannot get us to a Super Bowl in another 3 years, I hope he is replaced or retires. The home crowd will demand it if he starts losing a bunch of home games like we have this year.

There are various reasons Toub should be gone:

#1 - stop putting guys back there that catch punts inside the 5. DAT did it every time. Hardman is showing same tendency. Let them punt away from Hill. Will get better field position anyway when they over exaggerate the angle out of bounds and some idiot doesn’t hold or block in the back.

#2 - way too many penalties. Either the players are stupid and should be cut or Toub is a bad teacher. This is a common issue on a lot of teams, but it has happened a lot to KC.

#3 - there have been almost zero noteworthy returns in the last couple of years. Take away Hill and Hester and the magical Toub return stats are junk. Hasn’t been a great return since we beat the Texans in the playoffs by another person.

I get it. You obviously love Toub. Lets hope some NFL team does and makes him a head coach.

Poor execution on special teams today.  Hardman fielding one at the 3 (fair catch) .  Missed extra point,  The bad snap, although the snap was good. Colquit was not ready.  Still got to grab and place it,  then he panicks and adds 10 on top of the bad play.  The blocked field goal was more troubling.  Cannot let that guy go past you untouched. Also troubling that a player was able to figure out our cadence on field goal attempt and get a better jump on the ball than our own players.

The bottom line, is that we had no business putting ourselves in position to lose the game.  We give up a TD on a fumble.  Too many missed tackles.  Too many penalties.

Always a bad idea to let the game come down to one play to decide it, when we had ample opportunity to put the game away to begin with.

Your first point is why Toub's special teams have produced. He let's the players play and that goes back to Hester.

Your second point... well if it's common for all teams why is it a fire able offense for Toub? Do you get fired at your job gir being common?

Your third point... you're right there hasn't been huge huge returns for a TD. Blame that on penalties which goes back to your second point.

Lastly, I can give 2 shits who the Chiefs special teams coach is. Thanks for assuming. You know what they say when you assume, right? You make an Ass at of U. I don't think Toub has done anything to be fired over. Plain and simple.

You bring up Sutton as a bad example. But Andy's nepotism has paid off for many assistants who've gone on to become head coaches that have made the Super Bowl or field good teams year in/out. His nepotism must match good talent evaluation otherwise these coaches would be failing elsewhere.

Special teams rankings the last four seasons. Firing Toub doesn't seem smart to me even with the clear decline this year. But it's something to watch going forward. He says Hardman will break a return soon. Again something to watch.
