TERRELL SUGGSLB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

Cardinals released OLB Terrell Suggs.

The 37-year-old Suggs now will go on waivers. Suggs totaled 5.5 sacks and seven QB hits in 13 games this season. The potential future hall-of-famer has racked up 138 sacks since entering the league back in 2003.

If anything, block him from going back to Baltimore.

Update: Heard on the radio that his intentions were to hope and get back to Baltimore for the playoffs according to the guys on Sirius NFL.

Suggs is long in the tooth but boy was he a baller back then. Just wondering if he can conjure up a little "vintage Suggs" just long enough to help a team make it through a SB run?!

Looks like a good situational guy.  Suggs totaled 5.5 sacks and seven QB hits in 13 games this season

I'd bring them both in.  Not possible because they probably both will get snatched up off the waiver wire but both would help our team.   Suggs with his veteran presence opposite Clark.......would be nice in the playoffs.   Let him rest the last couple of games and throw him in the rotation.   And like Chiefsfan63 said...keep him from going back to the Ravens.

So I'm kinda confused...according to this article a waived player has "fewer than four years of experience in the NFL."

So, was he waived or released? I read that he was waived but is that accurate?

That’s sounds right. I think vested veterans are automatically free agents and cannot be “claimed”.

TERRELL SUGGSLB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent pass rusher Terrell Suggs "will strongly consider not reporting to his new claiming team if it is anyone other than the Baltimore Ravens."

The news isn't particularly surprising. Suggs didn't appear to have a ton of juice left, but he could certainly still contribute in spurts on a well-rounded defense like the Ravens. 2019 was the first season of Suggs' career playing anywhere other than Baltimore, where he spent the first 16 seasons of his career.

After a certain point in the season, no veteran player is protected as a free agent(I want to say week 12) and must be subjected to waivers.  I think it’s for reasons kind of like this.  Players demand a release at the end of the year so they can hop on to the playoff team of their choice.  This is kinda of a check and balance to prevent that

There are quite a bit of non-playoff teams getting the nod this year. We have no chance in the waivers but who knows, may be someone slips.

Why would a non playoff team want to rent a player, no matter how talented, for the last two games of the season?  Maybe I'm missing something.
