Thank God getting Alex Smith and Andy Reid taught the Hunt family what it takes to be a consistent winner.  That is what changed the franchise around.  A special QB and coach with an average surrounding cast at least can win a SB now and then. You can put the greatest defense in the world together, but without a great QB, it is almost impossible to get through the post season.  You have to get a QB who can put the team on his shoulders and come up with the astonishing play in crunch time.  To keep a QB like that often reqiores that you let certain really great players at other positions to walk in FA.  To compensate, you just draft well, develop that talent well, and a great QB can take you where you want to go.

They should have learned from Marty and Carl.. more over, all they had to do was a add an offensive piece one time over that span and they would already have another ring.
