Mahomes warming up for an MVP run?

I think it will be time to let Sammy walk and test the open market.  Hell maybe we get lucky and some dumb team over pays and we get a 3rd round comp pick for it!!!  I'd MUCH MUCH MUCH rather gain a high comp pick than lock up $8M on a 4th option non healthy WR in Sammy.

 

Grab a young CHEAP stud WR in the draft with our 1st or 2nd and spend that $8M on a pass rusher or Vet OL.

ATM I'd LOVE to see:

1st:  OT

2nd:  WR

 

Sammy walks we save about $7M and roll with Hardman/2nd round rookie PLUS gain a Comp pick.  Trade Fisher for a late 2nd or early 3rd, save between $6-$9M depending on when we trade him.  Let that 1st round rookie challenge Niang and a cheap Vet for the starting LT spot.

With about $13-$16 million saved in Cap I'd go out and spend a couple million on a ring chasing vet OT for depth starting LT till rookie takes over.  Maybe then look at a guard or center, Alex Mack or Pouncey?

So now we have WR's still GTG

and our OL is in much better shape.

I rather see LB and OL in rounds 1 and 2. If anything a TE before WR. Get a guy like Fant or Waller type. If not go for the best blocking TE that can catch to compliment Kelce until he is ready to take over. Blocking then would be improved too.

The idea that anyone can be league MVP for a team that does not win in the playoffs is simply lame. Its league MVP not team MVP.It should also not be who has the best stats. Look at Pitts schedule this year. The schedule is not even. Look at Lamar the Chokeson. His team ran up scores and his stats all season long and were one and done in the playoffs. Jackson was complete crap in that game. Is he really an MVP? Hardly.

Should the voting for MVP be delayed until after the SB?  In that case, the SB winning QB would be almost automatic.  Agree that the MVP should be able to win playoff games, but if the award is just for the QB that added the most value to his team in the regular season, Mohomes should be the winner even if the Chiefs got knocked out in the first round.

Well ending voting in December after the last game is completed is fine for me. Just because a team loses one game should not determine if that player is awarded it or not. What if he got hurt the first quarter in a playoff game? Not eligible then? Kind of silly but not as silly as the top 100 players voting ending in November lmao

Yes it should include playoffs and not limited to QB. A player could qualify without winning it all but not Inc playoffs makes no sense. MVP of the League for that season. MVP = WINNING

How about trading for Njoku or pick up Thaddeus Moss for peanuts? Either one can learn the nuances from Kelce while he's still performing at a high level.

Yep TE over WR is a bigger priority. We have a 30+ year-old guy and nothing else yet ignore the position quite often. Also a viable second option at TE would open up the playbook even more.

Well its a two dog race.   Pat Mahomes 3500 30TD 2 INt  vs  Aaron Rodgers    3100  33TD 4Int  + Today 250yard and 3.   

Rodgers has a path to 50 TD's and even though he's a full 400 yards behind Mahomes if he gets to 50 I could see them gifting the award to Rodgers.

So after today's performance, what does Mahomes have to do to win the MVP?   Or is it out of his control and he needs a Rodgers meltdown?      The only thing I can think of is go 15-1, finish with ~5200 (avg 330 per game for the final 3) , 45 (avg 4 per game for the final 3), 0 int's the final three for a total of 5200 yards, 45 Passing TDs (47 total), 5 ints and hope Rodgers has => 5 ints and within 3 TD passes of Mahomes.    What say you?     Or is it a done deal for Rodgers?

Eh...take away the interceptions and it's still a nearly 400-yard 2 TD road win against a (previously) 8-4 team.

He probably lost some ground against Rodgers today but if we're 2-3 wins better I think he still might win it with slightly worse numbers.

Yeah I said Mahomes played poorly today but that is because he has set such a ridiculous standard.   His bad game most normal qb's would die for and a couple flukes kept it from being incredible.  Crazy to think Mahomes very easily could have another 300 yards and about 4-5 TD's the past two weeks if not for a couple bad calls and tipped balls.   Crazy how good he is even when he isn't playing well.

The tipped balls and 30 yd. sack were real black marks on Mahomes' record for the year.  But think about where we've come with expectations.  The Chiefs are 12-1 with a good chance to win the bye.  They've set the standard so high that many complain not about losses but that the Chiefs don't win big enough.  Mahomes throws for 400 yds. and we complain about his protection.  No team is perfect in every area.  The Chiefs may fix their line in a couple of years and sag in some other room.  Enjoy the ride.  If they win another SB it will be great.  If they lose in the playoffs, we still have great years ahead of us.
