That has to benefit us because none of the others have won anything but a single playoff game.

This time last year, Mahomes hadn't won anything but a single playoff game.  Then he won three in a row.  Could happen to one of the other young guns.  The fact that was pointed out about all being on rookie contracts is telling.  Its a salary cap driven league.

Funny how in the past, a team would sell out to win it all: lots of FA signings, huge contracts for Qb's, RBs and WR, then suck for 5-6 years. Salary cp hell with tons of dead money.

Not so much anymore.

True, but it still depends on having a GM that can manage salaries and evaluate talent.  Some teams are perpetual losers and still up against the cap.  The Chiefs won last year because of FA (Clark, HB) but they have a chance to sustain success if they can hit the draft well for a few years.  LJ8, Allen, and Mayfield will all expect huge contracts and we'll see if they can manage the cap well enough to keep a supporting cast.

To be fair, 4 out of the last 6 Super Bowls were still won by Manning or Brady. And Tampa Bay is a player with the model you just described.  I think it's early to know what the current model is.

The current model is: You better have a damn good QB. Not a great D. Not a great running game.

I think 24 to 26 teams would be perfectly happy taking LJ over their incumbent. He basically is the offense, half of it as a runner.

In the short term LJ provides great value to most teams. He can somehow move the chains and with a decent crew around him he can lead a team to the playoffs. However once in the playoffs there's not much he can really do. He'll also start struggling on his way to the playoffs as the team won't be able to surround him with a decent crew due to his cost.

IMO a solid running QB like LJ is the perfect example of a 7 to 9 win guy every season throughout his veteran career.
