reesebobby 5,662
Just saw that Baker Mayfield is the oldest remaining AFC QB at age 25. Other than Goff, the NFC has two 40 year olds and a 37 year old Rodgers. xen

sith13 1,746
NFL is turning more into college football and rookie QB deals help out a lot the franchise a lot. I think the number will only go higher as years go on.

This time last year, Mahomes hadn't won anything but a single playoff game. Then he won three in a row. Could happen to one of the other young guns. The fact that was pointed out about all being on rookie contracts is telling. Its a salary cap driven league. AFCWEST

Funny how in the past, a team would sell out to win it all: lots of FA signings, huge contracts for Qb's, RBs and WR, then suck for 5-6 years. Salary cp hell with tons of dead money. Not so much anymore.

Some teams are perpetual losers and still up against the cap. The Chiefs won last year because of FA (Clark, HB) but they have a chance to sustain success if they can hit the draft well for a few years. LJ8, Allen, and Mayfield will all expect huge contracts and we'll see if they can manage the cap well enough to keep a supporting cast.
qnet 1,150
I like that the young guys are starting to come up. I'm biased because one them plays for the Chiefs.

And Tampa Bay is a player with the model you just described. I think it's early to know what the current model is.

Not a great running game. xen and Lamardirts

Thegoatee 1,780
The only team with a crap QB is the Rams. They are lucky to have a good defense.

He can somehow move the chains and with a decent crew around him he can lead a team to the playoffs. However once in the playoffs there's not much he can really do. He'll also start struggling on his way to the playoffs as the team won't be able to surround him with a decent crew due to his cost. IMO a solid running QB like LJ is the perfect example of a 7 to 9 win guy every season throughout his veteran career.
