Well we went all in last year and kept guys around for continuity but by doing so you rob younger guys of opportunities to grow.   Sorensen is a great #4, decent #3 safety,  but it limits the D when he's forced to be a #2.     What derailed this gravy train was both stalwarts at tackle got injured.   Otherwise we would have upgraded LG and our Oline would only really need a starting C in the draft and a developmental OT.   This whole offseason looks different.    Imagine having Schwartz and Fisher back.....and having won back to back SB's.

Crazy how a couple injuries can cripple you quickly.  Sadly we don't have great depth because of poor drafts and a top heavy roster.  With all that said we have Mahomes, Hill and Kelce and if we get a servicable LT we will be fine as our IOL is better.   We just can't be reaching in this draft and we need to find 2-3 immediate/future starters and a couple depth pieces.

Sky isn't falling, just yet.  I think we sign Melvin Ingram, K'Quan Williams and an eventual FA WR will give us more flexibility in the draft.  Its going to be ok.  Think of this as a semi-rebuild all the while being the serious SB contenders.  That's not bad.

In an ideal world Chiefs would have won or got close to the SB with both OTs on the roster and they have generally been healthy. The initial plan was to replace them in 2022 one of which could be Niang and the other one would likely be a 2021 early pick. The injuries definitely destroyed all the plans and definitely changed the entire outlook of this offseason. Looking back may be an IOL with one of the wasted 2nds would have been ideal but otherwise there were many unexpected events leading up to this cr@ppy OL. Existing investment has been too low for a QB like Mahomes but at least the staff seems to have learned their lesson.

I am good with that.  With Juan Thornhill finally healthy Dan should be able to play close to the line of scrimmage and not have deep coverage responsibilities.

What would be wrong with drafting a very speedy top safety and letting Thornhill roam a little more.  He a good ball hawk and can always play deeper if they want to go two high.

I don't get why we are bringing in corners?

Sneed

Ward

Fenton

Baker

Keyes

Brown

Why spend money here?

Because Ward hasn't played all that well.  He didn't improve last season and may have reached his peak which isn't great.  Baker is unproven as an every game starter and Fenton may be more of a slot coverage guy than edge  Keyes and Brow aren't ready.  So the Chiefs have Sneed and Fenton and a few backups unless Baker lives up to his draft predictions.  CB isn't the top priority, but there's a need there.

Ward is a solid #2 corner.

Baker has a ton of potential and the coaches seemed high on him.  He looked good before the injury.  He should recover fully from the injury and be good.

Fenton is a very good #3 corner can play slot or outside

Keyes has ability just needs technique.  And at 6'1" 190 has tons of size and length.  As a5th corner he is a project you want.

Brown had coaches excited until his ACL. But but as a 6th he can recover and get his speed back.

The corner room is solid.  We have other holes y to fill.  Maybe someday or 6th corner will be an all pro too.

I don't think a29 year old free agent his old team isn't even brining back is a good idea.  Let it guys develop and play

Guess we'll just have to disagree about Ward.  Maybe we define "solid" differently.  Hope you're right about Baker.  If he clicks, problems solved, but there's still a lot of doubt.  The Chiefs should be contenders again.  This isn't the time to live on hope and potential.

He is decent at #3 safety....#2 safety not so much

Unfortunately when you have some big contacts and other holes to fill you have to live on hope and potential a bit.  The top 3 guys are proven however.  Sure Ward isn't all pro,  but he is solid

Let’s not forget that if the dropped passes were caught with that o line we marched out for the SB the game would be a lot different. Not saying we would have won but. Seemed like everyone from coaching on down was not in game mode.
Andy ried son incident I think has everything to do with it. My two cents anyways. Yes I have let it go.
