Chiefs signing Josh Gordon

The real question with this signing is will it make a defense think twice about how they utilize personal to shade Hill and Kelce?
will it be different than what they do now with either Pringle hardman kemp?
secondly , can he beat man coverage ? will it force defenses to come out of a deep two shell.
obviously Veach thinks so.
im somewhat looking forward to seeing what happens.

I think KC see this as just another option. May help in the red zone. Additional depth.

“Brett always keeps his eyes open for good players; Josh is a good player,” Reid told reporters. “I think we all know that. He’s worked hard on his situation, making sure it was right; he’s been reinstated by the league, which was an important step. We welcome him aboard.”

One player that could be positively affected the most by the addition is quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Without having worked with him at practice yet, Mahomes was intrigued by Gordon’s history: he was once a first-team All-Pro wide receiver.

“Everywhere he’s been, he’s kind of dominated,” Mahomes recalled with reporters during his Wednesday press conference. “It’s definitely exciting... he can make plays in one-on-one coverage, and I’m excited to have him here with us.”

Really? Because if you see the teams copying what Reid does,  I would say he is a genius and innovator for offenses. He plays to the strength of his QBs. We saw this with Smith having his best year ever and what he did for other QBs he had. If anything he may over think plays and calls made.

I don't disagree. The problem I am seeing is getting the running game going and Pat struggling to adjust to staying in the pocket. So we will see how that goes moving forward.

This offense was actually tailored to Mahomes skill set. And it's been incredible to watch. This team is only going as far as the offense takes us, no doubt. I'm just worried about the long term. But they might put up 45 this weekend and shut me up.

Josh Gordon, Andy Reid a perfect pairing amid Chiefs’ early-season struggles

At a turning point in their season heading into Week 4, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed one of the league’s most mercurial boom-or-bust talents in a move that could make a huge impact on the team’s outlook moving forward. The addition of Josh Gordon to their practice squad is an indication that Brett Veach and Andy Reid see more potential in their team than has been capitalized on through three games.

Gordon has made his share of mistakes in the past, and history would suggest that his presence in Kansas City will be short-lived, but that shouldn’t dissuade fans from being invested in his inclusion to the Chiefs’ roster. Gordon hasn’t played a full season since 2013, when he led the NFL in receiving. Over the years, he’s found himself in a limited role with Cleveland, New England, and Seattle in short but productive stints with each team.

The Chiefs’ ability to take a chance on a player like Gordon, or Le’Veon Bell or LeSean McCoy in years previous, is tied inexorably to their faith in the coaching staff, specifically head coach Andy Reid. He’s been able to engage with his players in productive ways that facilitate maximum production and minimal drama. All of Gordon’s issues as far as availability have, infamously, been tied to the league’s substance abuse policy. It should still be a concern that Reid and his crew will need to rectify to get real production out of the veteran receiver.

It is worth noting that Reid has been in tricky situations with star players throughout his career, most notably with another volatile receiver in his time in Philadelphia; Terrell Owens. The Eagles reached Super Bowl XXXIX in 2004 with major help from Owens’ All-Pro production that year, and Reid navigated the affair as well as he could to give Philadelphia a legitimate shot at something special. He got the absolute most that anyone could have hoped to get out of Owens in 2004 and 2005.

Reid has done nothing but grow as a coach, and ostensibly a person, in the 15 years it has been since he was coaching Owens on the sideline at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. He should be able to use that experience to make the most of whatever he can get out of Gordon this season.

On paper, the pairing of Gordon and Reid is a match made in heaven, and with the Chiefs looking on the verge of collapse in recent weeks, Monday’s signing could prove to be a season-altering event that nobody ever saw coming.

Anyone else notice Tyreek Hill can be shut out of football games?

First time it happened was AFC championship game against NE. Was kind of shocking.

Now it has already happened twice this year.

Just kind of odd given he’s considered top 3 WR and we supposedly have the top QB.

I think you can take any one player out of the game, but it comes at a price. Pat has completed passes to 13 different players in the last 3 games. I don’t know how that compares to other teams, but it sounds like a lot.

Not really shocking when teams devote 2 and 3 guys to stopping him.  It's on the other guys to win their 1 on 1's to make em pay for that.

Also can you define "shut out"?

Cause he's on pace for 107 catches and 1500+ yards.
