I'll have to look it up, but the percentage of 20+ yard attempts completed this year compared to previous years seems to be down.  Maybe Hill is hurting and a step slower or Hardman doesn't go all out early in the play, but there have been a number of deep balls missed this season and not all to the sideline or on scramble plays.  JMHO

More deep coverage?   More defenders in coverage?   After two years,  teams aren't blitzing hardly at all leaving more in coverage.  Might be one reason he is hitting less than previous years.

Good point, but that's not why Mahomes has missed some deep throws when the defense was beaten.

Yep, Mahomes is great at scrambling, and so when they drop more in coverage and blitz less, Mahomes can’t find the uncovered receivers as well because of coverage and isn’t scrambling.

Play calling, and offense in general, looks better when you don't have receiver drops and mistakes stopping drives.  Mahomes didn't really do anything against the Raiders that he didn't do the week before, he just had more opportunities because drives weren't stopped short by stupid mistakes.  I listened to a podcast that had Seth on it and he went through that nicely.  Pat didn't just start "taking what the defense is giving" against the Raiders,

Exactly! Stupid mistakes, drops, penalties etc., is part of the plan.

The plan is to force the chiefs to stay patient, discipline and damn near perfect and execute 10-12 plays drives without a holding penalty, a dropped pass, a sack, a false start etc..

Against the Raiders, the offense was able to execute flawlessly 3 or 4 times, which forced the Raiders hand. That's when the deep shots begin to present themselves to Pat. He didn't hit on them all, but they did show up. The Chiefs will have to prove they can do that to every team going forward if they want to continue to stack dubs.
