If it's just for 2022 that basically means they don't want to pay a free agent in the long term but also don't like this draft class or think that we have enough draft capital to fix all the holes. I definitely preferred HB to leave for a long-term deal somewhere else but if he's willing to stay for anything less than 10 million I don't mind just postponing the need for a year. I do agree with the rest. We don't have to be under the cap until Wed when the league year and free agency start. Makes sense to slow play and figure out your options (trade, restructure, what FA edges will go for what, etc.. ). You can cut him at any time.
