The reason is he was missing assignments when he did play. When he was called on to play on D, I thought he looked good. Moved around well, had a grasp of what was going on and was able to get to right spot. But his rookie contract was up. I don't envy Toub. He has to take these guys fresh and build them up, and it takes a few years. Unfortunately, we have to go cheap and deep. It is the price of having a several expensive star veterans. Yeah, you may be right, but thats what we heard about bolton, gay, thornhill. When they finally got to play they out performed the starters. Playings vets over young players to get them ready for playoff games is a major weakness of our staff imo. In this case watts may never have developed, but its going to bite us some day. Wouldn't mind having him around for something like vet minimum but I'm guessing he's looking for a change of scenery to pursue a starting role.
