timmy_6262 77
Was he tagged with the non exclusive tag? I swear I read that somewhere. If he was, does that make anyone wonder why that tag and not exclusive?

Yep, I want to keep Brown but won't stop another team giving us multiple high picks if they want to break the bank for him.

We can know the market value and if it’s a bad team, take the picks. Doubt there is a 2 firsts offer though. oldtimer
timmy_6262 77
Obviously the Chiefs aren't high on him. I don't think he is great but it's not like there are LT just waiting around in free agency. Gutsy move by Veach hopefully it doesn't blow up in his face. oldtimer

No way does any GM give up two firsts for OB, especially for a team with first half of the round picks. Low risk move oldtimer

If they weren't high on him they wouldn't have traded for him, nor tagged him.

My point is how they used the non exclusive tag which gives the Chiefs an out if someone puts in an offer. I know it's so he can test his worth on the market but using that tag left an out to let him walk. That's it.
DieHard 2,061
I think it gives Brown a chance to set his value. Not sure anyone knows what it is.

It is cheaper on your cap to use the non exclusive tag and no one is giving up 2 1st round picks for a non QB. Exclusive tag is average of top 5 salaries for the current year but non exclusive averages out for the last 5 years. oldtimer
oldtimer 8,686
tackle Terron Armstead to a five-year deal worth $74.4 million with incentives that could bring it to $87.5 million. He’s expected to come in and be a cornerstone on the offensive line, as the Dolphins look to improve a group that was one of the worst in the league in 2021. On the surface, a deal that has an average annual value of nearly $15 million may feel a bit daunting, however, this contract for the player could end up being a team-friendly one. That’s especially the case when looking at the AAVs at the position, and Armstead’s $14.88 million comes in at No. 14. These are his cap hits throughout the deal, according to Over the Cap: 2022: $3.99 million 2023: $20.4 million 2024: $16.65 million 2025: $16.7 million 2026: $16.73 million Obviously, the increase to $20.4 million in 2023 is a drastic one, but the NFL salary cap is projected to jump roughly $17 million in the next year, so that would cover the change. Over the course of the contract, there’s a $12 million signing bonus (prorated to $2.4 million annually), $1 million annually in per-game roster bonuses and $18 million in guaranteed salary ($1.12 million in 2022 and $17 million in 2023). If Armstead is on the roster on the third of the 2024 league year, his $13.25 million salary becomes completely guaranteed.
AFCWEST 1,238
I predict KC drafts a left tackle and maybe signs a free agent early next off season if needed. Then then let Brown walk or trade him. Its not that he isnt a very good tackle its MONEY. If the draft or free agent opportunity is not there then tag Brown again. oldtimer and Palangi 1
