jetlord 10,209
After the dust has settled on Sat. night, what impact on the Chiefs' roster do you hope to see? Just a guess, but if they net four starters and seven that make the roster plus a few PS guys, the draft will be a success. I'd include three LBs, three S, three CB, three DE, and a return specialist as "starters" since they will get considerable playing time and have impact on the W/L record. I think Veach has averaged about six draftees including a few UDFAs making the roster each year. With more picks in the early rounds, this should be better. I don't care how many picks you have, if you get 4 starting level players out of a draft class you're ahead of the curve. oldtimer and sith13 1
Balto 723
I'd like to see a WR either drafted or traded for plus a DE drafted or traded for that can start on opening week. Those are my major wishes and then just fill in BPA with a sprinkle of need.

Agree, but it's very possible to get an EDGE, CB, and WR. Add in a third safety or LB and it's not all that unlikely.
azchief21 5,278
If we can get an EDGE and CB that contribute right out of the gate I'd be very happy. Would like a decent 3rd down cover LB as well. dhitter and AFCWEST
DieHard 2,061
I think we need 2 starters at DE. It is pretty critical that we find one of those in the draft and then get a one year FA. We need a really good safety for this system to work. We have a couple of guys. Average starters at best. I would like to see a dynamic playmaker at S. I think we need 6 guys to make the team with 3 starters and 3 depth at a minimum. It will be very hard to field a talented D this year. That would take 2 DE, S, LB, CB all starting caliber. An argument could be made we need a DT on that list. Especially with Jones having a year or two left. Offense could use a WR and RT pretty bad as well. Burpo The Mad Clown 5,556
A couple of solid DEs, an elite WR or two and upgrades at DB would make me happy. SEMO

There's a difference.

He wasn't at the beginning of the year and was behind Gay and Hitchens, but I would put him in that category. I did include the third CB and S in the mix since the Chiefs use them regularly although they aren't technically starters.

I'm just going by history here which says the odds of production after the 2nd round are really bad. We've seen it can be done

We've seen it can be done Depending on what you call a "starter", you probably need to go back to about 2008 to find a Chiefs draft class with 4 starters. And that year we had 5 solid starters. Maybe 2020 depending on how Niang and CEH turn out.

But three last year without a first isn't bad and one might consider Brown as a substitute for the first rounder. oldtimer

Yeah last year was amazing but it's probably helped by 2 of those starters being offensive linemen who have a higher hit rate than other positions. That said those 2 offensive linemen played well above replacement level so that's just phenomenal. Lamardirts

dhitter 1,424
Although I want a high level receiver, if the Chiefs had to go to war right now they could at least field a competent receiving corps. That can't be said for Dline or the secondary. Chiefs have to get 2 to 3 starting level players on that side of the ball if they hope to improve over last year. oldtimer, qnet, AFCWEST and 1 other 1 2

Oh, expectations about the draft? I expect the Chiefs to make some picks. Go Chiefs! azchief21

Obi Won Mahome 134
I would say Veach exceeded expectations today given the value we appeared to get in round 1. Both players selected were supposed to be off the board when we picked. NCChief and Troyofoc
