RB DARREL WILLIAMS, ARIZONA CARDINALS

TE MIKE GESICKI, MIAMI DOLPHINS

RB MYLES GASKIN, MIAMI DOLPHINS

Now that's interesting.  Gesicki?  Really?

Oh I see they have him as a trade candidate.  That makes more sense.  He's a shit blocker.  He'll of a receiver though.

TE MIKE GESICKI, MIAMI DOLPHINS

The Dolphins, of course, would not cut Gesicki, who’s playing on a fully guaranteed franchise tag this season, but a trade isn’t out of the question. In fact, the Dolphins have “brought up” Gesicki’s name to other teams, a league source told PFF. That doesn’t mean anything will transpire, but Miami has been willing to engage in conversations.

On top of that, Gesicki is set to make $10.931 million in 2022, and he played the entire first half of Saturday’s preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, staying in the game long after other offensive starters, such as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, tight end Durham Smythe and others, had departed.

And that’s because Gesicki has admitted he’s learning a new position this season. He previously was a big receiver. Now he’s a tight end, and in new head coach Mike McDaniel's offense, he’ll be expected to block.

Vannett is a decent blocking tight end.  If we have to IR Bell might be an option if he's cut.

Do the Chiefs really really need a block specialist TE?  Burton can cover that job and Fortson can at least chip.  He's been working on his in line blocking.  Bell doesn't seem all that important to this offense.

Imo no.  It was more important when our line was shit.  Andy may have a different opinion.

Bushman fractured his clavicle on his last catch tonight. TE position is down 2 players at this time with Bell out for now too.

That's too bad.  Reports were he was coming on strong in camp.  Sure looked good last night.

Jones, Nnadi, Shelton, Saunders, Wharton

Clark, Karl, Danna, Dunlap, Herring

Bolton, Gay, Chenal, Lee, Harris

McDuffy, Snead, Watson, Fenton, Williams, Lammons

Reid, Thornhill, Cook, Johnson

Drop Johnson and ad Bush at Safety and I'd agree 100%.

Kelce, Fortson, Gray.  That may be enough if the Chiefs use Burton for blocking.

The Chiefs agreed to an amended contract for WR JuJu Smith-Schuster that increases his per-game roster bonus from $30K to $60K, per source. Smith-Schuster can now earn an extra $510K via per-game bonuses this year. Nice touch by the Chiefs to give him a chance for more upside.

Interesting.  Why increase his roster bonus by half a million when he hasn't even played yet?  Is this leading up to a longer term contract?

ESPN's Adam Teicher believes the Chiefs will release Ronald Jones.

Teams must cut down to their 53-man rosters in four days. Jones is competing with Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco for backup duties in Kansas City. All reports have Pacheco holding down that gig, leaving the No. 3 role to McKinnon and Jones. McKinnon played 122 special teams snaps for the Chiefs last year and has previously served as a kick returner. He is also a strong receiver out of the backfield. RoJo, on the other hand, is only useful as a runner between the tackles. Given his limited skill set, it's unlikely Kansas City holds onto him. He can be left off all fantasy rosters.

Quarterbacks (3): Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne, Shane Buechele

IN: Shane Buechele

My first two iterations of the Chiefs’ 53-man roster did not include Shane Buechele — but something tells me that after he put together a 166-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Packers, the Chiefs know that if they don’t keep him, he will be claimed elsewhere. When faced with that decision in 2021 — as the Arizona Cardinals tried to poach him — the Chiefs added him to the 53 to keep him on the roster. The change-of-guard won’t happen this year because Chad Henne comes with a more-than-$3 million cap penalty — but my way-too-early prediction is that the Chiefs make the move to Buechele as the backup in 2023.

Him and Burton in the Back field with that new Fat guy would be a great Goal line offense
