cutdown day is a week away - Roster Predictions

Seems like the chiefs will have to add another wr to active roster considering juju has been battling a knee, hardman has a hamstring issue or groin or something, mvs has missed practices as well. Blake bell will be out.

suddenly we are down to a small number of player who we are 100% sure to be healthy to catch the football.

will be fun to see how the roster evolves over the next week or so.

A few surprises for me. Kinnard made it over Reiter. I like it, just didn’t know how it would play.

4 DTs and 6 DEs. Kaindoh over Shelton? That is a shocker to me.

Lee cut and only 4 LBs. I thought they would keep 5.

Had a feeling RoJo would make it.

Lee will replace Bell.

I was not expecting either Joshua Kaindoh or Malik Herring to make the final roster but I was obviously mistaken. I thought that Kaindoh was underwhelming over the past month and that Herring just didn’t do enough to overtake both Shelton and Stallworth. I project that Herring, similar to Blake Bell, will be placed on injured reserve due to an oblique injury and will likely return later in the season. I also believe that the Chiefs would rather ride with the young guys than either one of the veterans, due to their upside/potential. I can’t say I blame them but I’m not convinced it’s 100% the correct for a team ready to win the super bowl this season.

Kaindoh surprises me. Dude gets handled every time he's out there.

I still think their realistic super bowl hopes are pointed at 2023. I hope someone ridicules me in February for posting this now.

Lee will be back as soon as Bell is placed on IR.  Kaindoh over Shelton is a big surprise to me.  Guess the Chiefs think Kinnard has potential.  Didn't see it in TC.  Nine draftees on the final 53.  Gotta hope the Chiefs find a backup RT.  Surprising that they only kept five WRs but they'll have backups on the PS.  Glad to see Reiter gone.  Allegretti can back up OC better than Reiter and also play OG if needed.  The Chiefs aren't doe and are scouring the FA list at the moment.  At least that's my expectation.

This was exactly predicted in the podcast, "Locked On Chiefs" from the other day, regarding cutting Shelton, keeping Kinnard for development (and because he is a draftee with good potential).  They predicted that Reiter would be cut, but also, if not signed in 24 hours, would likely pick him back up.  Just a calculated risk.  They predicted Kaindoh on the roster because he came on strong late in camp and the preseason and even did well on some snaps near the end of last season. Shelton is just too one-dimensional (running game) and not much else. It is a weighty issue, for sure.

Why does it matter if only five WRs were kept? I didn’t see anything to write home about beyond the five we kept. Couldn’t Fortson fill in as WR6? If we are having to rely on a WR6 for something, we have a lot bigger problems.

In the past, the sixth WR was a ST specialist and rare backup.  Kemp filled that role.  Fountain seemed poised to take over this season.  He and/or Coleman on the PS could be moved up if one of the top four goes down. Agree, the big issue is who backs up the O-line starters.  Wonder if the Chiefs have a good handle on when Niang comes  back..

Chiefs want to sign Reiter to ps vet exception.

What did everyone think of Prince Wanogho's performance in preseason?  I didn't get to watch the first two games and only a little of the third.  He made the roster which is good for him but was it more based on the fact we are short on reliable swing tackle options or has developed into a solid backup?   Curious your thoughts.

He is probably as good as any other team has for a #4 tackle. Likely would clear waivers as would most #4 tackles. KC seems to feel he has upside.
