Omenihu is a FA that many talking heads called a good fit for the Chiefs.  His signing probably means the Chiefs don't need to double dip for DL in the draft.  The question is where the money is coming from to pay him, Taylor, and probably a WR before the draft.  Veach must be confident he has a deal to extend Jones or he's gambling big on the size of the cap next year.  In Veach we trust.

OT day 1. DE day 2.

Agree, unless they can't sign a WR before the draft.  Wouldn't mind a S or TE on day two.  These first two FA signings give the Chiefs a lot of flexibility.  Wonder if they'll draft a FB to replace Burton.

With Omenihu, we need to look at the end of the story on Arrowhead Pride. "

'Omenihu was arrested in late January on the suspicion of domestic violence, and he was later released after posting bail. The 49ers said at the time that they felt “very good about the legal process” taking care of itself, and they allowed Omenihu to continue to play.

Nobody has posted about this part of the story here.  This just happened in January during the 49ers playoffs.  He was released on bail, and the 49ers just ignored it and let him play, and left it up to the the "legal process taking care of itself."  Could this have anything to do with his being available?  Was his contract up, or was he released? if he was a FA, was he given an offer by the 49ers? If he was released, why? Why is this story written in such a sparse and ambiguous way without mention of it until the very end. All it talks about are things like his football performance and metrics. What do the 49ers know about this incident or where it is going to go legally? Do they have some more inside information? Being in San Francisco, I would guess so.  I don't know shit, really, but I do know that we do not even know yet if he is going to be prosecuted. All we know is that he is OUT ON BAIL. Period.  That's it.  Generally our experiences with domestic abusers on the Chiefs have not been good.  Just sayin'.  I am very wary about this signing at this point and am not counting on this guy to even play for the Chiefs until the legal process plays out and we find out if it is true or not.  Curb your enthusiasm for now.

Haven't read the details, but the summary was that the GF accused him of pushing her and hurting her arm.  No injury and she refused medical treatment.  Not defending the guy, something happened, but it could be the Hill type case several years ago when the GF tried to accuse him via recording.  Let the process play out before judging.  Could be that she knew Omenihu was up for a contract and wants a piece of it.

Good player.   Has a pretty high win rate.  Excellent length and a tremendous wingspan.  Has inside/ outside versatility.  He should fit nicely with the Chiefs.  This really helps the Chiefs out.  Now their pick at 31 is completely wide open.  There will not be a pick made based on  despirate need.  We still have needs on DL, OL, and WR  ,  however if a really good player falls that is not is hose position groups,  the Chiefs can now pick them without blinking an eye.

Don't know much about him but the reports are generally good. Seems a bit pricey but can't be sure without the details. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few incentives in there inflating the overall value as that seems to be the way Veach rolls in short-term deals.
