Maybe.  I thought it was Grbac or Bono but am not sure any more.  Guess compared to SFO, she had a point but it was still arrogant to put it out there.

That's right... it was Bono.

Chiefs among teams to vote for ‘Thursday Night Football’ flexible scheduling

The Kansas City Chiefs were among the NFL teams to vote in favor of flexible scheduling for “Thursday Night Football” games at the NFL’s annual meeting last month in Arizona.

According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jeff Kerr, each of the Chiefs, Eagles and Ravens voted “yes” on flexible scheduling for Thursday games when it was put to a vote last month. Thursday night games are among those that were previously not able to be flexed. The vote did not pass and was tabled for further discussion when NFL owners meet again in May.

The league did, however, pass a new policy to allow teams to be scheduled for two Thursday night games during the course of the season. It’s a change that both Patrick Mahomes and Justin Reid didn’t quite approve of.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports that a total of 22 teams voted in favor of the rule change. Eight teams voted “no” and the Panthers and Broncos abstained from voting. The NFL needs just 24 “yes” votes for this rule to pass.

Breer added that Chiefs CEO and Chairman Clark Hunt was one of the owners trying to get both sides of the argument to meet in the middle on an agreement.

After that, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt stepped in and offered another compromise: Instead of four weeks of TNF flexes in 2023, the league could do only two weeks. Others then asked whether they could get 28 days’ notice and just two flexes for Year 1. That calmed down the room, and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie suggested splitting the proposal apart and voting on the two aspects of it separately.

The main qualms from ownership, outside of the potential issues related to player health and safety, seemed to be about having adequate notice when a game was being flexed to or from Thursday night. The initial proposal called for 15 days time.

All in all, the potential for a rule change here is notable for a team like Kansas City, which already plays a ton of its games in prime time. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos reportedly wanted the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 when “Thursday Night Football” debuted on Amazon a season ago. If this policy eventually passes, it stands to reason they’ll want more Chiefs games in the future.

Does anyone consider the fans when game are flexed?  Some years ago a Chiefs games was moved from 1500 to 1200 on a Sunday and people behind us had driven from Nebraska (four hours) and paid the big ticket prices and parking only to find that the game was in the second half when they arrived.  Yeah, they should have noticed that the game was moved, but I didn't blame them for being irate.  How about fans who have airline tickets home after the game and then the game is flexed to 1900?

They don't consider the fans much that are attending.  While yes its going to effect some in some travel arrangements, most times they sell out.  Prime time tv ratings are what they are really after and if moving a game effects some fans attending vs having better ratings, they are going to choose the tv ratings as that's the money driving the ship.

You find some cheap flight, book your hotel ready for a great Sunday at Arrowhead with a nice weekend planned in the city. Then with a month to go they flex the game to Thursday and all your plans go down the drain as well as any money you can't get back. Not sure if people can plan such trips anymore in this economy as they can't catch any early bargains.

Not sure how much of a difference the TNF makes in terms of TV money but such an unchecked greed will ruin the sport if it keeps up.

Amazon is paying about a billion a year for TNF.  From what I've read ratings were down quite a bit last year compared to 4 or 5 years ago.  Some probably due to Amazon but alot because the matchups just suck mostly so flexing gives them the chance to put better matchups on.

It sucks for the fans coming in from out of town or flying in for that game to be sure.

The ratings were down because a hell of a lot more people have easy access to the networks than do Amazon Prime.

They do but its not all that either. Some of it is matchups as their were games that drew less even with it being over the air.
