Palangi 788
1. Mazi Smith DT 6’3” 325 Michigan- a good compliment to Chris jones. Has some upside as a pass rusher too. https://youtu.be/kUjIP0N5jqk2. Zach Harrison DE 6’5” 270 Ohio State- a Spags prototype end. Has tons of upside and potential. Didn’t live up to expectations in college. But maybe Cullen gets it out of him. Can sit behind Omenihu for a year or two. But adds depth and rotation. https://youtu.be/KoNwn4hnrH03. Byron Young DT 6’3 295 Alabama- a gap penetrating DT to add depth and pass rush. Has really good length and strength. As deputy and rotation. https://youtu.be/zNTzSWiWp244. Bryce Ford-Wheaton WR 6’4” 220 West Virginia- a player that is similar to Toney with more size. Can as depth behind Toney and fill in if Toney gets hurt. Is a very good red zone target with height and 34” arms. Good 50/50 catcher. https://youtu.be/CSgiiAiBBnM4. Zack Kuntz TE 6’7” 255 Old Dominion- a highly athletic kid with great size and length. The athletic profile is through the roof. Highest RAS score from the combine. With better coaching he could really blossom. https://youtu.be/spLsTYBtgGg5. Matt Landers WR 6’4” 200 Arkansas- very fast and athletic. Played in a run based offense in college. So there is some untapped potential. Very similar to MVS. Could replace him in a year and cut the salary. https://youtu.be/7eznk8R9pAg6. Jason Taylor S 6’ 210 Oklahoma state- athletic safety. Had a 43” vertical. Has a nose for the ball. And a good tackler. https://youtu.be/LBIazZfabmk6. Isaiah Land DE 6’4” 240 Florida A&M- not the prototype for Spaggs. But this kid is bendy and brings speed as an edge rusher. Definitely a pass rush specialist right nowhttps://youtu.be/Lwtl0g--gtw7. Chris Rodriguez RB 5’11” 220 Kentucky- big physical kid. Can be used as the goal line and short yardage back to take the punishment. Would pair nicely with Pacheco. And McKinnon can be brought back for another year toohttps://youtu.be/ldfUjgaerB07 Andrew Vorhees OG 6’6” 320 USC- would have been a second round pick if not for the ACL injury at the combine. Incredibly strong, 38 reps on the bench. Can red shirt next year on IR and then be looked at as a Joe Thuney replacement. https://youtu.be/NM6bYzzCK90RosterQB- Mahomes, Buechele RB- Pacheco, McKinnon, Rodriguez WR- Toney, Ford-WheatonWR- MVS, Landers, RossWR- Moore, Ross, Smith-MarsetteTE- Kelce, Gray, Fortson, Bell, KuntzLT- Taylor, PrinceLG- Thuney, Allegretti, VorheesC- Humphrey, AllegrettiRG- Smith, Caliendo, VorheesRT- Niang/KinnardDE- Karlaftis, Danna, KaindohDT- Jones, Wharton, YoungDT- Smith, Nnadi, CowartDE- Omenihu, Harrison, HerringSLB- Chenal, LandMLB- Benton, CochraneWLB- Gay, TranquillCB- Mcduffie, WatsonCB- Williams, JohnsonNB- Snead, BootleSS- Cook, Edwards, FS- Reid, Taylor oldtimer
kkuenn 3,597
A lot of high picks as depth or to sit a year behind. Everyone here tells me that the 1st and 2nd should be starters especially but you have your first 2 out 3 picks sitting? I know, we have a lot to think about for the future but we have starters need at DT, RT, CB ( if our guys regress in year 2) etc. I do like the D line being looked at though. Really line the Vorhees pick, but I think he will be gone before the 7th, 5th rounder imo even with injury to sit, learn and heal up.
oldtimer 8,683
But no OT..is'nt keeping Patrick's uniform clean priority #1 until things are solid? I know it really rarely turns out this way but what I'd hope for in a draft 1rst rounder should start immediately 2nd start by mid season 3rd contribute by mid season or sooner 4rth at least be on ST or 2nd string 5th, 6 & 7..hope for the best. Harrison is a guy that is if it clicks he will start over Omenihu. But if it doesn’t having Omenihu as the starter and Harrison getting minutes would be just fine. there is no way on Gods green earth corner is a position we need to draft High for a starter. Sneed, Mcduffie, Williams, and Watson are all starter level guys as shown last year. i also don’t think they are looking at RT all that hard. I believe Niang is looked at as a starter and I believe Kinnard was drafted last year with this year more in mind to push for a spot. Depth is absolutely needed on this roster. Especially on the defensive front and the WR core. I believe the starting 3 WR are in the roster. MVS, Toney, and Skyye. The depth will come from the draft. And the hope that both Ross boys develop and are ready to help. I also think Smith-Marsette is a sleeper slot guy.

What if they are solid? What if they aren’t blowing smoke and Taylor will be the LT. While they are still high on Niang and have high hopes Kinnard is ready to go this year after a year of developing and getting NFL coaching. Along with extra work with Duke Merryweather. Lamardirts 2,114
Not the flashiest draft but solid. Wonder if he will keep drafting solid high floor/high college production guys like he has the last two drafts or will he go back to reaching like his first two? dhitter 1,424
This from ESPN on Mazi Smith: Overview Dontari Poe might be the physical and athletic player comparison for Smith, but more consistency from Smith is needed before he finds the Pro Bowl, as Poe did twice in his career. Smith’s blend of size and quickness is rare. He can punch and control a base block with relative ease. However, he struggles to match the initial movement of move blockers, which diminishes his effectiveness. He has space-eating potential but needs to become more consistent at taking on double teams and securing his gap. Smith’s size and testing could give his draft slotting some juice but he’s more of a Day 2 talent with exciting upside than a plug-and-play starter. I would expect more from our first round pick. Pushes the talent to an upper level and then depth is even better. SEMO

kccrow 529
Harrison is the type of guy I'd take a shot on in the 4th but most definitely not the 2nd. I've been thinking about Matt Landers a lot for the same reason you list. He is kind of just like MVS. I'd be okay with that poke in round 5. I'm not so equally impressed with your pick of Bryce Ford-Wheaton. You've got 3 huge targets going to a team that doesn't normally employ more than 1 or two because of short-area quickness issues with long players. That's not happening. oldtimer

This offense is about quick hitting and YAC above all things with some deep strikes mixed in. You have two long striders with build-up speed added to MVS and Ross so now the bulk of your roster is that type. Just never going to happen man. Never. Niang is an injury waiting to happen but maybe he'll make it through twenty games although I doubt it. Kinnard has shown nothing, nada, zip, zero, that he can play RT. Maybe a backup guard or maybe he'll suddenly emerge as a tackle, but the Chiefs would be crazy to count on him. They absolutely need a probable starter at OT and any mock without considering that just doesn't make sense. Give Mahomes time and protection and the offense will roll no matter the receivers. Get Niang hurt and have no other long term substitute, is asking for another limping QB in the playoffs. Iluvhouse24

Harrison looks like a starter at LT or RT. Taylor and Niang could very well be the starters regardless of the draft, but I'd expect Wright to take over a spot and Niang be the swing tackle. We don't want to see Prince or Kinnard playing multiple games if someone goes down.
