Draft Pool - Get on record

Anton Harrison if he is there is my bet at #31.

My biggest hope would be Dalton Kincaid if he somehow drops, which I doubt. We are going to have to be ready in a couple of years. Mahomes and Andy depend on a great pass catcher at TE for their entire offensive playbook to be available.  I don't think we will move up for Flowers, though I would be ecstatic.  But I am guessing a splash post draft trade for DeAndre Hopkins is in the works (which is why).   If we take a defensive player #1, it would be a huge space-eating guard to play next to Jones, not an End/edge rusher.  But we are already set to be a top 10 defense in 2023 I believe, so the priority is not real high IMO.   Another CB in the mid rounds would be great.

Hopes and preferences aside, I trust Veach to surprise us throughout this draft, and I really don't want to guess at anything.  I don't know shit, anyway.

First choice, Wright.  Second choice, Harrison assuming the higher rated OTs are long gone.  I don't prioritize TE as much as some in spite of generally being more a long term thinker.  They still have time to groom Kelce's replacement. The Chiefs are peaked now.  They can win now.  Protecting Mahomes and giving him time is job #1.  The Chiefs can fill the WR room on day two or through post draft FAs.  They can resign Dunlap or even Clark to play with Karlaftis, Omenihu, and Dana.  They do need some help at DT and I'd expect one by the fourth round.

I have no idea, but I'm glad the draft is finally here. Now we can stop over-analyzing who they might pick, and productively shift to over-analyzing who they did pick (as well as nit-pick who they passed on).

Party pooper.

Dalton Kincaid would be awesome but I bet he goes higher than we're comfortable.  However if you like Kincaid you'd probably love Sam LaPorta from Iowa.

Virtually the same size.  Kincaid has not been able to workout but LaPorta tested elite in every category but size & bench and looks very similar on the field.  The athleticism shows up in both cases.  2 of my favorites in a draft full of great tight end options.

I would really like us to find a more productive understudy for Trav and hopefully the heir apparent.  Plus Andy kills with 12 personnel so it's not like they wouldn't play a lot.

Chiefs fan in kc wait all night for pick 32. And with the 31st pick the kc chiefs… trade out of the first round, making everyone lose their minds.

realistically i think veach does what he did last year. Target a few players that might fall to pick 22 or so and attempt to move up for them, if not trade out of 31

I'd say your spot on

I would love a trade back.  If we get to 31 without trading up I think the grades will be similar through the 2nd round.

That said takes 2 to tango and that's a legit reason why no one may want to trade up just for the 5th year option.

If a QB falls to our spot though all bets are off.

Seeing Veach’s history and the wealth of picks this year, I’d bet the house we move up to the mid 1st round. For somebody.

Define mid 1st round...like teens? Because next years first will have to be involved for a move like that. Plus more...

I dont see Veach giving up next years 1rst for anyone. There are not THAT many gaping holes in the team and not sure there is anyone  that would drop in the draft to the mid teen to warrant that kind of commitment. When the draft hits pick #20 it's time to start paying attention

Who knows what Veach has up his sleeve. I don’t see him giving up next year’s first, but if he sees someone he likes (Johnson, Jones or Flowers if any of them fall) he can move up with a package of this year’s first and later round picks. Not saying he will, but I’ll be surprised if he stays at 31.

Laporta, if he falls to mid 3rd I would move up for. Teams needing a TE will go early in 1st and 2nd for the 3or 4 of them ahead of Laporta. He may slide and I think he would be a good one to get. To bad he did so well, before the combine i was hoping for him but more to the 5th round area.....

It would have to be a real premium pick to give up enough to move that far, and probably involve some 2024 picks.  With only one or two WRs with first round grades and a shot at an OT probably as late as 25, there's very few prospects worth the drastic move up.  Maybe Jones at OT.  Who else?  The Chiefs have extra picks and not much room for rookies on the team, but the extra picks are all day three and not enough to move far in the first round.

Assuming my plan falls through, I would go with this.

I'd be very happy with LaPorta
