How did they end up playing the 49ers?  Maybe that will be promoted as a SB LVII replay.

One interconference game based on the prior year's standings on a rotating four-year cycle (one game). These games match a first-place team from one division against a first-place team in an opposite conference division that the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in each division are matched in the same way each year. The home conference for this game will rotate for each season.

This is the new rule for the 17th game

Oh good.  The eleventeenth year in a row to play the Bills.

The Chiefs are in the same success cycle as the Colts/Patriots of the 2000's/2010's.  First place finishes are a good bet for this team as long as Mahomes and Reid are in town, so we'll continue to play division winners from previous seasons.  The Bills keep winning their division and so do the Chiefs - they'll keep playing each other more often than not.  Good spot to be in as a Chiefs fan, for sure.

On paper and right now, that’s a brutal schedule.

Meh, the NFC South is a dogcrap division that looks better than it is because all four teams suck. AFC North are all beatable if you can block the edge rushers. And what is the 49ers cap scenario? They seem like they dropped a lot of picks and money on guys and will crater when they have to actually pay a QB.

Got it.  Thanks.  Bottom line is that success one year means a tough schedule the next.  Fans complain when their team doesn't win their division and they complain when they do and the schedule comes out.
