Now it's reported that 22 people were injured, including children. I've been drinking, and am getting very angry; so I won't post on this subject anymore.

Luckily I have quit drinking so I was very level headed getting out of there, but I cna tell you, my head was on a swivel the whole walk back to car!

We were not searched or even looked at by police.

that fills in the big question i had as i was watching on TV, were there checkpoints. I am not angry about that because like you said how do you police over a million people, people wanted to have fun and celebrate and it ended in tragedy. You can bet that the next parade will be a locked down affair, or they will have it at Arrowhead for a controlled environment.

it didn't take a puzzle solver to solve this one. There was a shot of an older guy n red sweat pants and hoodie sitting on a curb between 2 cops  looked as if he was handcuffed as well

So, an argument that got out of hand?  Lots of rounds fired.

That is exactly what happened.  All I heard on the way to the car was 2 people got in an argument, they thought it was over, and one guy walked away, turned around and fired his gun through his backpack.  Multiple times prompting the others to fire back.  This is just a couple stupid people ruining the lives of a bunch of innocents because they think it ok to solve differences with guns.  I am really starting to hate this country we live in!

That is exactly what I said.  I bet neither of these fuckers got hurt in the process.  It was all the innocent bystanders that were effected by their stupid shit!

Especially, all the kids that got hit.  No regard for human life.  Society is dead.

I could be wrong but I thought I heard yesterday that the older guy in red sweats wasn’t arrested even tho there were pictures of him being detained.

it appears that 2 of the 3 were juveniles. I’m not going to get political, I just hope they fry those stupid fuckers.

Gang violence?

Gang related was absolutely my first thought. There’s not much else in the way of an explanation for juvenile inner city youth to be packing at a downtown parade.  Can’t appear to be weak no matter how many innocent bystanders are in the area.
It’s a major problem.  Will it stop me from going into kc?  No, I love kc, I love going there, games, concerts, restaurants and bars, but I’m happy to live in a rural area an hour west where this shit doesn’t happen.

My concerns and prayers are for those in critical condition and the family of the lady killed, but another thought crossed my mind.  Will people in Jackson County outside of the city vote to move the Royals downtown after this?  I was already opposed for selfish reasons but safety of the area wasn't really a factor until now.  It reminds me of a friend who was a basketball coach and works with inner city youths in basketball activities.  He describes kids who all seem to know of at least one relative or acquaintance who has had gunshot wounds and one who's brother was killed.  It's common in that part of the city.  Who wants to go there, park there, and walk to a stadium there?

I thought that may have been the case, this is what made me so angry about it. This type of stuff happens a lot in Atlanta, and it's happening in some nice areas. Just a few stupid people ruining things for everyone else.

I dont have a dog in this fight and have boycotted all baseball since the strike of 95. That being said Crime will undoubtedly go up with an inner city stadium, it's an inconvenient truth.

Yep.  The down town area around Busch Stadium is a shithole.  I won’t even go down there anymore.

Say what you want but KC is rallying.  Over 200k donated to the lady's family that died.  Taylor swift donated 100k.

Lots of reports of Chiefs players and coaches calming kids down.  Even Jackson Mahomes was spotted helping some kid hide.

Politics aside, nobody comes together after a tragedy like Americans.

We were leaving as this happened.  Luckily we were gone and didn't know anything about it until we started back to our car.  Not sure what people thought would happen by putting a million people in an area.  We were not searched or even looked at by police.  We had a wagon, and a cooler, and no one even talked to us.  I was actually a little worried about it as to who was checking all these people, OF COURSE it would have mad getting into the even a NIGHTMARE!  I've heard people describe this as a mass shooting.  I hope the media doesn't try to turn this into that.  It was exactly what you think it is.  A couple people got drunk, and they got into an argument and started shooting.  I pray all of the injured recover, and are able to resume as normal of a life as they can, but those injured were not targets.  They were innocent people in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I don't know how you police a million people with 900 police officers, but they were brave and did not hesitate.  I am just glad my family is safe, and we got out of there without incident affecting us.  I will continue to pray for the victims and that justice is served!

You don’t check people on the streets.  It’s different if you’re funneling people through gates like at arrowhead, but an outdoor public event downtown is impossible to police in that manner.

I get that, but they did say that they would be searching bags on the website, only reason I mentioned it!

I saw news film of that and assume he was the one released since he didn't look like a kid.  Not sure why the police were escorting him away but it could have been a guy legally carrying and the police grabbed anyone who they saw was armed.  Just a wild guess.
