They owed him the money anyway, they were earned incentives from last year. But there was an option in his contact that allows them to tag him after being paid for the incentives. They picked up the option, but it doesn't mean they will use the tag.

Just hope we can get it done asap one way one that other. Tag and trade before the draft or resign so we can move on with other needs etc. Don't want to wait last minute and screw us on this like last year.

The player makes the call, but the agent can influence the player to make a bad one.  Orlando Brown is one example and it would seem that Jones last summer is another.  Did Jones learn something?  Hopefully.

Imagine having that first game and being game ready. The Chiefs did him a solid letting him play into the 3rd quarter of a game that did not matter to get his 1 million dollar sack bonus. He would be wise to remember that in signing a tag and trade or a contract.

My guess is that the Chiefs are weighing the Cap hit out  3 or 4 years and trying to rework Mahomes to make "more" possible.

The opportunity to "3 Peat" is very compelling for the players.  I like that Mahomes put "3 Peat"  out there immediately and Jones has since jumped on that train. On thing about "drunk talking" is that it shows how a person really feels....Jones wants to come back and he loves his coaches and his teammates and Kansas City....he is a big difference maker on that DL and in the Locker Room.

Where is the evidence that Jones is willing to give a home town discount in order to get a fourth ring?  He may be crucial to the Chiefs winning, but so are Sneed, Tranquill, Allegretti, Gay, Edwards and Danna along with about five other bit players.  The Chiefs can't keep everyone and some team with more cap room than brains will offer Jones a deal that the Chiefs can't match.  Last summer showed Jones's priorities.

I used to cringe every time there was a punt or kickoff return. I'd like to see us retain Richie James if it can be done cheaply. Our return game has been a shit show until he showed up.

Agree that the top priority is to not fumble and fair catching on the five is pretty important as well, but did James have any meaningful returns?  There's been a few playoff/SB games where big returns were game changing.

31 yards longest return for him. We can do better imo.

Why not have a return specialist?  Dante Hall changed a few games.  I remember seeing Tamrick Vanover win a couple of games with returns.  Earlier, Nolen Smith (Super Gnat) made some great returns.  None of them played well at regular positions.

Probably because hardly anyone returns anything anymore!!!!!!!  I really think they should consider getting rid of the kickoffs.  Very rarely does it even get returned!  NFL average per game was 1.1 kickoff return per game.  Waste of time.

When Caleb Williams gets into the league, it just might happen that way.  Who was the announcer that said, "If you can't hit the QB, put a skirt on him?"  Madden?

Shirt and skirt by Jil Sander. Sneakers by Givenchy. Watch by Rolex. Bracelet by David Yurman. Bracelet by Shay...

He’s on the wrong side of 30 and wants huge money. Giving him what he wants just isn’t feasible. From my perspective, I’m afraid of giving him a big contract and his play falling off a cliff and being stuck with an albatross contract.

He isn't even 30 yet.  He could play 3 more years and be 32 when he is done.
