Sure would hate to see him leave.  He's trained a lot of late picks into becoming starters and some good ones.  Can't blame him for wanting to move up the ladder but he's talked about his family, schools, and sports so hope he hangs around a while longer.

Wonder if he is wouldn't use this as an opportunity to get a little raise in KC.  I'm sure he wants a promotion but he has mentioned that he is fine in KC for the moment because of his kids and family.  He deserves a raise and a promotion just not sure there is a space for that promotion in KC.

I'll be honest, I was more concerned about this report than about potentially losing Sneed.

Spags said that he has several assistants who should be position coaches by now and that he expects many on his staff to become great DCs down the road. He has a logjam of great coaching talent that, for some reason, other teams haven't tried to pilfer. Great for KC, but at some point they'll want to take the next step in their careers.

The Chiefs have two good defenses against other team's pilfering their coaches.  1) Pay them well.  2) Stay in the playoffs until other teams have filled their coaching ranks.    Wonder what kind of bonuses the coaches get for winning a SB.

probably in their contract  since they are not part of the NFLPA OR  dictated by the generosity of each individual owner..the players get an added $157K for the winners and losers $75K

It's now reported that Merrit won't be hired at SFO DC.  They hired Brandon Staley for some reason and promoted their own passing defense coach to DC.  Strange that they would hire Staley but not make him the defensive coordinator.  Anyway, we can relax about keeping Merrit for a while longer if that report is true.

There's a report out that Shanahan tried to pry Spags out of KC.  If true that's just lol

Why would Spags even consider leaving the Chiefs where he can work under Reid, is getting a lucrative contract extension, and is gaining a reputation as a defensive wizard?  Shanahan embarrassed he DC by overriding him in the SB and then firing him the next day.  Not exactly a candidate for boss of the month.

Gaining?  You don't think the Giants superbowl did that?  This one only cemented it.

SF is a bit of a mess right now.  Ownership is not thrilled with Lynch the GM.

Lynch is not thrilled with Shanahan.

The players are not thrilled that the organization made Wilks the fall guy....

KC offers stability with Coach Reid....Patrick Mahomes and the chance to make history again.  Spags has already made history as a DC

Spags will be interesting cause nobody has gone into the hail as a coordinator.  I think he should especially if they 3 peat

Some talking head announced that Shanahan had contacted Spags about becoming the SFO DC.  Had a laugh about that one.  Spags is getting a raise and extended contract in a perfect situation with security.  How would anyone think he would go into a place where the previous DC got scapegoated after having a top five defense and the state tax is 13% for a lateral move?
